dlbalr
As is the custom, let's keep all of the trades in here except for Montreal's moves which will get their own threads.
dlbalr
The only move so far today was Mike Green to Edmonton for Kyle Brodziak (out for the season) and a conditional 4th round pick. Both TSN and Sportsnet have said over the last few minutes that all current indications are that Petry and Tatar are extremely unlikely to move. DON
So a minor tweek or two of moving lesser players is all we should expect?
Trizzak
That is such an overpayment for Pageau. The Islanders would need to play the Habs in every round of the playoffs for that price to be worth it.
JoeLassister
There must be an contract extansion on the table for Pageau. Massive overpayment if he walks on July 1st.
dlbalr
I didn't like Ottawa's first two moves (DeMelo and Namestnikov). This one made up for that. The move might take the Islanders out of the running for Nate Thompson as well.
alfredoh2009
A trade like this for the Habs, I'll be good all year A trade like this for the Habs, I'll be good all year A trade like this for the Habs, I'll be good all year
Chris
This is why MB needs to sell his 2 best trading chips, ottawa i believe now has 3 first rounders and 2 of them could be top
Trizzak
Odd trade from Florida but I think I like it for them?
Habsfan89
Man habs need to come to the realization that in the next 5 years they're not going to be winning a cup, and they should be off loading guys like Petry, Tatar, Price and Weber for as many 1st round picks as they can. I like it a lot more for Carolina than for Florida. They get a core top-six guy for a collection of middle-six players and second-tier prospects. Florida gets some cap room with it so what's still to come for them?
Habsfan84
Marleau to Pens for a third. Not a bad little pick up by the Pens.

I think it’s a great trade for the canes, unless trocheck is seriously in long term in decline mode because of his injury.
Trizzak
Marleau to Pittsburgh for a conditional 3rd that becomes a 2nd if they win a cup. Penguins get the conditional that I wanted for Kovalchuk.
Trizzak
Kreider re-signs in NYR. The interest in Tatar must have just skyrocketed.

Given the return for Pageau, we should be moving Petry and Tatar. It looks like GM’s have gone back to the old deadline/free agency days stupidity mode. Seems logical. I hope we move at least one of them. But we probably won't, and already quite a few posters here and media commentators are stroking their beards and sagely nodding as if standing pat is a wise move by Bergevin 🙄

The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Just now, Habsfan89 said: The problem is Bergevin thinks this core is good to win and won't blow it up Moving Tatar is hardly "blowing up the core." He's the guy I'd be shipping out (assuming a competitive return). Petry is a bigger issue because his departure would turn a mediocre blueline into a catastrophic one. As for those persistent Price rumours, now THAT is the unicorn. A trade which - if we get back the kind of return you expect for Price - could really change the parameters of the Habs' future. I am pessimistic that it will happen, but hope it does.
