sbhatt Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 After watching the replay, we're damn lucky that goal counted...Higgins spun around the defender with his free arm. Keep working the phones BOB; this funk is far from over (even if we somehow pull this out)................. True....this is definitely a case of stealing a point (or two, hopefully). Quote
KoZed Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Quick knocks it in himself with his back. Well I'll be damned. Markov gets the GWG Quote
sbhatt Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Wow....can't believe that neither Koivu nor Lang touched that. Now for God's sake guys...HOLD ON!!! Quote
huzer Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Nice goal off the faceoff win, there. Nice to see Markov shoot instead of dumping it across the blue line. See? Feed the net, and ya never know what'll happen. Quote
sbhatt Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Stole two very important points...but still...hard to feel too good about this one. Quote
ForumGhost Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Really? I feel great. 2 points and a win to boost the confidence. Quote
Fanpuck33 Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 The non-call on the Higgins goal makes up for the lousy diving call on Pacioretty. Good to get 2 points finally. Price still passes to the wrong team too much. Quote
BTH Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Stole two very important points...but still...hard to feel too good about this one. Why? We played a great game, far better than many of our other wins this season. Quote
JoeLassister Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 HUUUUUUUGE goal for Higgins !!!! Kalder might want to dissapear ! Quote
MFT77 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Pulled that rabbit out of the hat. A much needed 2 points. I've been harsh on Higgins, but he came thru with a huge goal. Quote
Fanpuck33 Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 Why? We played a great game, far better than many of our other wins this season. You call that a great game? Seriously? They were badly outplayed. Quote
l<OV4L3V Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Why? We played a great game, far better than many of our other wins this season. compared to last years canadiens this win was mediocre..last years canadiens wouldve scored on 25% or more of their PP Chances (oh how I miss Streit) Quote
Trizzak Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I thought the Higgins goal was a penalty, but I'm with getting the bounces and the luck as long as the players don't fall back to relying on it. Quote
BTH Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 You call that a great game? Seriously? They were badly outplayed. Maybe but this is one of our best performances in the past month. We finally had a step to our game, the defence wasn't giving the zone so easily, players were standing up for eachother, Plekanec and Higgins scored... More things to be happy about than angry Quote
brobin Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 The habs got lucky tonight.. but the middle of the game was the same old mess. they had a 5 minute major and played terrible with it to the point that they ended up taking a penalty of there own. Last game, 5-3 opportunity to put it away and play terrible. In both cases, they gave the momentum away. This team eeked out a win on a very lucky bounce, but they need a trade to really turn this ship around. Clearly we need a PP specialist on the point, and this time, they need to keep him. Kaberle is hurt, but may be available for a stretch run. The key will be getting a number 1 centre who can give them the edge. I am not overly hopeful that Gainey will be able to pull it off. Hammer and Gorges were terrible on two of the goals, but I will at least give Gorges the benefit of the fact that he was not sure what team he played for at the time of the give away. This team need to tighten up and stop playing soft if they are going to develop some consistency. Quote

kenadian Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Agreed, if we had been winning and dominating (ie skating hard forechecking etc...) then this game would be a "good" win. ie we won not playing our best hockey, BUT we've been stuck in a rut (a time warp/distortion ), playing too many of these kinds of lazy uninspired games Quote
BCHabnut Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Ugly win. Might be what the dostor ordered. It was funny, on CBC, even PJ Stock commented on the Habs lack of a defensive coach. Bob needs to pull the trigger on two things. An impact player! Centre, wing or Defense. It doesn't matter as much as we think what position it is....IMO. Just someone who can dominate his portion of the ice. We need a freakin defensive coach. Today there were less odd man rushes, but too many open men all over the ice. This is causing them to be tentative when attacking, cuz they are scared of a defensive mistake. Quote

I agree they play like they don't wan to break the marshmallow for crying out loud. they need to get tough NOW. we need these games dammit. They were very lucky to win this and most of the time they were fighting the puck and really looked scared to touch it in case they made a mistake. They need to get motivated. GUY? Quote
CoRvInA Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 If the boys play like that tomorrow, it's gonna be ugly. Alex Henry was called to get to MTL: ...not sure if he'll play tomorrow but for sure (clearing etc...)but toughness we will get!!! Quote
blaze53 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I was glad to see the Habs hang in there and steal the win from the Kings Quote
