tebo64
Too much being made of a young college player having fun and experiencing the college life. I would not worry about his attitude and work ethic based on college experience. He may be a hockey player but he is also a college student. Except these kind of stories didn't come up with O'Byrne or Higgins or Pateryn. Not even once. Kristo is good for at least one questionable life decision per season, and it's kind of hard to take him seriously as a prospect because of that. DON
Except these kind of stories didn't come up with O'Byrne or Higgins or Pateryn. Not even once. Kristo is good for at least one questionable life decision per season, and it's kind of hard to take him seriously as a prospect because of that. You may be a bit harsh on Kristo, he may not have a spotless track record as a teenager; but he also is no Ray Lewis. Who likely should of gone away for murder in 2000, but all we hear now is whether Lewis is best LB/leader ever. If Kristo comes in and scores, a party or 2 will be forgotten (same as OByrne with his purse snatching) Collberg finally scored in the SEL...sort of. He scored the shootout winner for Frolunda today. oh well, couple more months and he should be done in Sweden.
dlbalr
oh well, couple more months and he should be done in Sweden. I'm not so sure. With Roger Ronnberg (the Swedish WJC coach) being named coach of Frolunda for next year (someone who trusts Collberg), I'd say the odds are likely he'll be in Sweden with Frolunda next year. He won't be NHL ready, likely not AHL ready (though eligible), and there probably won't be many CHL teams looking to take a one-and-done prospect in the Import Draft. It's certainly possible he's in North America next year but I'd guess Sweden is his most likely place at this point.

dlbalr
if he gets OK icetime, then likely is best? I think he'll get decent icetime (unless that team signs other players to bump him down) so I'd be okay with him staying.
dlbalr
Some injury news, Mac Bennett will miss another 3-6 weeks. Considering the hit, it could be a lot worse. Joonas Nattinen (okay, he's signed but I'm not making another post out of this) remains out indefinitely will an upper body injury.

dlbalr
Collberg scores for real this time. He was selected to take a penalty shot in today's game and sniped one to get his first non-shootout SEL goal. We're still waiting for that elusive marker that comes with other players actually on the ice but it's still good to see nonetheless. Edit: He also scored the shootout winner today so he'll be credited with two goals for the game. (SO GWG's count in goal totals.)
dlbalr
Nygren had a pair of goals (9 in 37 games in the SEL) yesterday. Saskatoon won 5-4, Thrower was +3, Dietz -3. Dietz has no +/- luck this year. Dustin Walsh left the game with an undisclosed injury - I think he's a decent prospect but 2-3 notable injuries per year is making him really risky to sign. Dalhabs
A swedish article about Magnus Nygren who is having a really good year. dlbalr
This may be the last time I'll mention him in this thread but despite not playing in an OHL game in over a month, Alex Galchenyuk is still 5th in the league in scoring.
Commandant
Kristo's 7 game goal scoring streak was snapped on Friday. He did score on Saturday though, giving him 9 goals in the last 9 games.

Will he come close to Tarasenko-Huberdeau first games? unlikely but with all the skill up front Oil should be one fun team to watch again this year. dlbalr
Collberg extends his point streak to 3 straight, collecting an assist today. That gives him 3 goals (although 2 are SO GWG's) and 3 assists in 22 games. That's not great but a lot better than what it was only a couple of weeks ago. dlbalr
Coming up clutch can never be a bad thing Speaking of clutch, guess who scored the SO winner in that game? Give Collberg 4 goals (3 being from the shootout) on the year now.
dlbalr
Collberg scored again today, this time with other players on the ice for the first time. Charles Hudon has put together a nice month so far, picking up 11 points in 9 games since returning from the WJC's with a back injury. Dalhabs
Buyout Kaberle and bring over Magnus Nygren to replace him as PP-specialist next season? Watched some of the game today and he had one hell of a shot on an early PP. Didnt go in though.

Watched some of the game today and he had one hell of a shot on an early PP. Didnt go in though. I think they'd like to put Nygren in the minors at least for a partial season so he can continue to work on his overall game so that he can be more than a specialist if he makes the NHL. But, given the suitors he'll have from the SEL (I think I'd found something earlier that said the KHL or NLA was going after him), maybe they'd have to create more of an opening. dlbalr
Danny Kristo is currently 5th in NCAA scoring but all anyone wants to talk about when it comes to him is how much he acts like a college student. I think a lot of the discussion stems from the fact that previous Montreal collegiate prospects haven't found themselves in the media for non-hockey related issues as much as Kristo has. To his credit, since he came back from a couple of early suspensions for said reasons, he has been one of the top players in the NCAA and has likely got himself in the Hobey Baker discussion. Speaking of Kristo, it was announced today that he is facing misdemeanour charges for the team party incident back in September (one of his two suspensions). http://www.timesunion.com/sports/article/UND-hockey-NDSU-softball-players-charged-4231656.php Also, here's a name that doesn't get mentioned on here too often, Daniel Pribyl. He's up to 15 points in 34 games in the Czech Extraliga this season. He also is +10, third best on the team despite playing in a bottom six role. By comparison, he had just two points (both goals) in 17 games last year.
