Habsfan
I hope these are just precautionnary measures. Maybe even help Amrkov and Schneider rest a little before the Playoffs. Is O'byrne supposed to play tonight?

Is O'byrne supposed to play tonight? Yep. Dandy's back at forward, and Andrei Kostitsyn is still a healthy scratch: Gorges-Komi Hamr-Breeze Janik-O'Byrne
Easy Ryder
Janik is the guy we had for Bégin ? I completely forgot about him. Ouch our PP quaterback is now Breezer. ...hope for Markov and Schneider to be ok soon. ...hope some players will step up and get the big W again tonight so there is no pressure on the return of the wounded players. I want the Markov of the last week on the ice for the playoffs not the Markov from last year.
Psycing
Probably want to see what Janik has to offer at the NHL level.
gelu88
No big reason to worry, considering what position the rangers are in, i'm sure bob wants the team at their best, at the expense of tonight, which is a game we can still win with a weakened lineup. The biggest thing about this game for me is that we lose all possibility of making it to 4th if we lose . Plus, who knows Janik might be the new markov... Fanpuck33
Probably want to see what Janik has to offer at the NHL level. You don't call up a guy to see what he has when you're still in danger of missing the playoffs.
Athlétique.Canadien
At least Janik can scrap
TheDriveFor25
I agree... why give this Janik guy a look now? Why not throw Dandy back there and put Dags in the lineup or AKost? odd
Easy Ryder
This is no test for Janik, this is a final 4 game situation. Janik main asset in this situation is that he shoots and defends from left side. Only Hammer is a natural left D out there. Gorges is a leftie but plays better on the right side? weird but the man is a little weird too. Komo, Breezer, O'byrne, Dandenault are all right shooter with very limited capacity to play left side. Still i would better like to see these combo Hammer- Breezer Gorges- Komo O'byrne-Dandenault and A Kost back with the second line. If we have no D at leat throw in some offense. saskhab
Janik has played over 150 NHL games. He's more experienced than O'Byrne. It's not like we're putting an untested player out there. Janik is a natural left side d-man, so I understand the thinking here. Dandy will probably see some shifts on D, though. Could be a very different lineup tomorrow night in Manhattan. sbhatt
I hope and pray that this is just a precaution. Hopefully the top line can continue to keep that powerplay functioning without Markov and Schnieder, because if not, we're probably going to lose the game. rafikz
I read on ESPN that both Marky and Schneidy may miss the Rangers game as well

Tony
The Habs are playing it safe with these two, plain and simple.

dlbalr
Man, or 2 best blueliners and PP specialists And the real kick in the pants? Schneider may be done for the year... Markov misses at least 1 game, Schneider could be gone for the season according to CJAD Sports sources. Officially the Canadiens will reveal more after the game tonight, after MRI test results are analyzed. But a reliable sources has told CJAD Schneider needs surgery and could be done for the season...regular and playoffs. Janik tells CJAD he's not expecting to be with the club for the 2nd game of the roadtrip in Boston Thursday. http://www.cjad.com/node/531474 That last blurb is interesting - either Bouillon is close, Markov won't miss much time, or he'll be swapped for another Bulldog. (Or Dandenault moves to D regularly...) Edit: RDS confirms, Schneider done for the year, Markov 3 weeks - better get used to the D we have now... Psycing
Wow. As if this season couldn't get any worse... Alex Kovalev to play D? I think he would be an interesting substitute for Markov at least on the Point of the PP. Going to be tough watching guys like Gorges and maybe Komisarek? Try to fill that role on the second wave (let alone Breezer & Hamrlik on the first wave).
