If Danault walks, does this mean that Poehling is ready to go and Evans is the new shutdown centre?

We will sign a secomd/third line centre

Suzuki, kk, evans, poehling is too young at centre imo.

And then who comes in for injury? Vejdemo?

Nah.  We need more depth.

Yep. But it's probably not too hard to find a decent 2-3 C.

good point.

counterpoint. Three of those centres have gone further in the playoffs than most vets. Still a good point.

And one of them missed nearly the whole playoff (Evans) while the other played himself out of the lineup (KK).

While this wouldn't be my preference, I *could* see the Habs trying to go the first chunk of the season without a veteran C. But one would absolutely be added at the trade deadline.

Since KK is far from fully cooked, and Evans too, it would be much more responsible just to sign a mid-range UFA and head into the season with adequate depth and experience at C.

Poehling will probably start on the wing. In fact, being on the 4th with Jake Evans would be pretty good for strong-side faceoffs and a 4b centreman if Evans gets kicked from the dot.

If Byron plays with them, he can take face offs too

I am not sure about Perry

I think Belzile can take face offs too

That makes sense.

Two guys on a line (who can do faceoffs) is almost always enough.

It is always enough.  The second guy getting kicked out of the faceoff is a delay of game penalty.  You never would use the third man.

I like Granlund, went from $5.75M to $3.75M ... Habs will probably be able to fit him under the cap

That would be the third player from Pori on our roster (assuming Armia returns), surely an NHL record.

Draft Aleksi Heimosalmi

Ha! I had to look him up. It looks like he might have some of those D characteristics we're looking for -- but he's still young and years away from the NHL. And, like so many prospects, he might not even make it to the big leagues. Still, I wouldn't be opposed to having him as one of our prospects.

#58 is just ahead of where the Has pick in the second round ... sounds like a reasonable selection and potentially available when the Habs pick.

How long before Danault’s agent calls Bergevin asking if the 6x$5m is still on the table?  I highly doubt he gets an offer like that on the open market.

I'd bet the Habs move on to someone else before that call comes in.
