When MB traded for him, many said that he had never been a top-6 and that he would not be a solution long-term. The contract was not a good move. On TSN690 this morning Marc Denis admitted (starting around 9:05 mark) that he has accepted that Josh Anderson is no longer a top 6 offensive forward, and that he is effective when he brings energy/aggressiveness but that he doesn't do that consistently ... he could get back to being a 20 goal and be a useful third line player. MaxPac and Plex were indeed good. But Cammalleri's, Gomez's and Gionta's salaries added up to $18.4M, 28.6% of the cap. That's equivalent to $23.9M with today's cap. Ouch! In fact he was leading the rebellion, if memory serves. But he got traded (who could forget 🙄 - for that worthless bum Bourque) and went on to have some good seasons elsewhere. Gio's regression had begun and Gomez's game had completely and inexplicably collapsed. The 2011-12 season was a complete, obscene mess and you know why? Because Markov missed the year. It completely wrecked the team and everybody suffered. (In fact, Cammy had come here in part to play with Markov - and when he went down, I suspect that's when Cammy said, "K, I'm outta here"). McD is unbelievable. Hes at 95 assists, and looks a lock to go over 100. The only NHL players to ever get 100 assists in a season. Gretzky (11 Times!!!!) Mario Lemieux (once) Bobby Orr (once). Matthews is obviously a great shooter but it just seems to me that there is something lacking in his game that never seems to get pointed out. A pure shooter.
