Rocket Weekly: Injuries Are Taking Their Toll – HabsWorld.net

"– The injuries just keep on coming for Laval.  Laurent Dauphin missed all three games with a lower-body injury although he’s listed as day-to-day so he shouldn’t be out for too long.  Filip Mesar sustained an undisclosed injury against Rochester and missed the Toronto game as well."

Reinbacher was full practicing with Laval, i thought i heard mentioned yesterday (Marco Dimico i think it was).

Not sure timeline or heard anything like that, but cant be too far off?

Montreal Canadiens - AHL Prospect Report

"I haven't seen much of Reinbacher, which is the case for everybody, but I think that there are a few things that he should focus on. I'm not a coach, but I think he has the potential to be a top-pairing right defender for the Habs. Right there beside Lane Hutson, but he needs to adopt more of a killer mentality - controlled aggression would be tremendous - hits at the blueline, defensive stick checks and bully-like defending."

the Toronto loss was in part due to two 5-on-3 short handed stretches that sunk them. The first half of the game Primeau was square to the shooters and poor coverage on cross-ice passes were scored on. Not totally his fault.., but later on, the team and Primeau were not sharp.

Let’s hope they get some bodies back

Reinbacher is a big body smooth skater, but in his first game he made two costly mistakes that became goals

the talent was still obvious even after missing so much time. I am happy

Mailloux had a strong game for sure. Farrell ici tonies to show his vision and offensive talent. Too bad they could not come back from the hole they dig themselves

5-4 loss to a crappy team.

Mailloux 2g1a

ABB 1g1a 7 shots

Farrell 2a 4 shots

Beck 1a 4 shots; double minor roughing up speedster Lambert

David Reinbacher to make season debut – HabsWorld.net

"However, Laval still has 25 regular season games left heading into tonight’s action against Manitoba.  Those plus a possible playoff run would at least help salvage what looked to be a lost year of development.  His addition will be a welcome to the Rocket, a team that’s missing a pair of veterans on the back end (Gustav Lindstrom and Josh Jacobs) and is likely to lose Logan Mailloux or someone else to recall by Saturday when the Habs resume their season in Ottawa."

Add Josh Jacobs to that.  I think you got the rest of them though.

As a potential NHL Top 4 defenceman or as a potential Top 9 winger & PP QB?

Funny 😁

as a potential 2nd pair RD and second PP unit QB.
The more I watch him play, the more I believe he may have a similar career as Petry

Thanks ... whenever Mailloux has a good offensive night I am somewhat leery of "strong game" or "ready for the NHL" comments, by anyone.

no problem.
I do not take myself seriously on this forum, and my impression on players are 50/50 at best.

on the other hand, I have watched enough hockey and listened to a lot of analysts; enough to help me form an opinion on a player.

Mailloux sometimes wants to take charge and go get a goal for the win. His first goal last game is an example of this type of play. But sometimes he puts his team on a bad defensive position. Playing lots of minutes under hood coaching should solve that.

I think we underrate Petry's defensive ability here.

I agree. His issue wasn't anything like the people he is being compared too here.

He just randomly did asinine things in the defensive zone with the puck that would scare you to high hell.

He was very solid defensively... except for when his brain turned off lol

Not the first couple of years he was in Montreal. He improved to the point to receive a few votes for the Norris, but when he first got here many fans thought we had lost that trade.

Mailloux makes me think of that version of Petry, when he makes mistakes: he seems lost; but when he is focused and reins in his desire to attack: he looks like the better version of Petry which is a big bodied smooth skater with offensive ability

"It was Farrell’s 11th goal of the season, and he now has seven goals and five assists in eight February games.

Less than two minutes later, Florian Xhekaj finished off a William Trudeau pass for his 13th goal of the season."

Dauphin’s return really balanced the lines. He was a positive factor and got rewarded with the empty net goal.

Farrell has been playing with more assurance, not afraid to go into puck battles or to on the boards. His vision is remarkable and his shot release mid stride has surprised a few golies during this last few weeks.

You can see it in the highlight of his goal this game.

Xhekaj didn’t play as well in the wing with Beck. That line was not very visible. But his goal when parked infront of the net showed his hood hand-eye coordination: he is not anywhere close to “cement hands”, he may become a good 4th line ce get that can score a few goals in the NHL.

Mailloux made some very good defensive plays and Reinbacher continued to make progress. Reinbacher is such a confident player in the ice, never seems to panic.

Primeau let à goal in o. The first shot but it didn’t rattle

him. He was solid the rest of the way
