If they’d listened to fans, they’d have Tkachuk and Michkov. It works both ways to a ball on a double-edged sword in two courts back and forth at once giving and taking it. Ill take the side with the best GM in NHL history, but you can be against Pollock if you want.

If the fans are always right, why aren't teams making their draft picks based on a popular vote on a web site/Twitter/X/Bluesky/FB/etc?

Might be a thought. But we can’t let the Leafs do what the Russians did in the first Trump election.
Butterface
All I’m saying is that fans are not always wrong. Sometimes they are. Some fans have more common sense than others. Hard to sort which are which sometimes. Most of you think I’m crazy. My mother had me tested. I'm not.

Commandant
Of course, no one is perfect. That said management usually makes better decisions than fans... so while not perfect, you still let them do their thing as they are right more often. More likely to be right than the public opinion, though. Smart hockey people with far more inside knowledge and data than we have.
Butterface
Let the fans have fun…. and vote. I don’t think I’m here because I think management is always right. I'm here to talk about it. I’ve seen plenty of mistakes in my years. So far Hughes and Gorton have been fair value. Enjoyed every minute. As perfect as you can get. Not infallible, but very, very good. Commandant
Have all the votes and discussion you want. My only point is that I hope management isn't paying attention to twitter votes and message boards.

Last 2 games each. Monty 4 goals on 45 shots 2 goals on 35 shots Dobes 4 goals on 44 shots 4 goals on 28 shots Why would there be angst about who is the starter? Butterface
Hearing this kind of convo with LeBrun… https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/mikko-rantanen-blindsided-by-trade-i-was-willing-to-take-a-significant-discount-1.2242581 This is what it’s going to be like for us in the not too distant future… lots of big numbers going to get thrown around with all our talent next 6 months to 6 years. Enjoy the cap space while we have it. Won’t be here long.
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
I really doubt Colorado would have traded Rantanen if he was REALLY willing to take the kind of haircut needed to keep him under MacKinnon's salary while leaving enough room for them to re-up Makar in a couple of years. And if he was, then his agent mishandled the discussions with the Avs, because they clearly felt they had to pull the trigger or lose him as a UFA. 53 minutes ago, Butterface said: Hearing this kind of convo with LeBrun… https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/mikko-rantanen-blindsided-by-trade-i-was-willing-to-take-a-significant-discount-1.2242581 This is what it’s going to be like for us in the not too distant future… lots of big numbers going to get thrown around with all our talent next 6 months to 6 years. We have Hutson and in three years, this is a potential scenario with Demidov (hopefully, but not hopefully, if you know what I mean) … we also have Laine, Dach to get through… Reinbacher… Hage… and then Suzuki from the top…. followed by the rest… obviously there will be plenty of turnover in-between. But you can see we will be pulling our hair out over decisions, big decisions… much bigger than Evans in the not so distant future… and it will be rinse and repeat for many years. Yes, but if we are pulling our hair out to make decisions because we can't afford everybody then we know a lot of progress has been made. It's where we want to be. I walk on the edge of sanity. I have two Habs baseball caps. A signed Lafleur, Price and Béliveau jersey. A PK Subban bleacher creature and a Lafleur rc…. No underoos and I don’t dream of running on a beach naked with Youppi ! Ok I may own Béliveau and RR 2nd year cards, but they aren’t graded. My Lafleur rc is an OC 9 or 9.5… I don’t remember. Oh yeah, I have a Price rc of some sort too. With a piece of a jersey. But I’m not crazy. Oh yeah, I also have a bunch of coins and stamps… but they were gifts. And some other stuff… but nevermind. I don’t have the underoos, so I’m not crazy. Oh yeah, I have a Dryden rc too .. ungraded. So yeah, I’m entirely sane.
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
One thing Butterface's claims reminds us of is the importance of not overpaying for plumbers like Evans. We need to instill cap discipline now rather than later.
