Prime Minister Koivu
Habs have played significantly better defensively the last few games but the Oilers are a big test. Hutson gonna be huge tonight

GHT120
Pregame ceremony for Pierre Houde the 2024 recipient of the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award (i.e., media HoF) ... so likely more like a 7:40-45 puck drop
Habs Fan in Edmonton
I predict Hutson scores his 1st NHL goal tonight as it should be a fairly wide open game against the Oilers and he will get his chances.
DON
Oilers are 6-4 in last 10, Habs are 3-7 in last 10, i wouldnt wager a huge bet on Habs to win, but Go Hutson Go!
Helmethead
Team in on the verge of turning things around.
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
The good news is that, if we can turn in a really focused, structured defensive effort that - win or lose - effectively contains the Oil, it will be a "reference point" sort of game, from which the team can draw a lot of self-belief. "Hey, the system was effective against the Oilers? Then we can be effective against anybody."

Giving Marty a grade right now is really tough as I am still looking at development more than points in the standings.

Not sure why you cant give a grade though? Has he done well with roster he has been given, which has been weak. Media seems to like him, fans seem to like him and most players have been given an opportunity to show what they can do. You must have a general 'feeling' how you think he has done, no? TurdBurglar
I had to give him a D. When you essentially have the same young team and instead of improving, most aspects have gotten worse. I couldn't give him a positive or neutral grade. It is just early in the season though, so there's plenty of time for improvement.
Prime Minister Koivu
As for the poll, I think each voter decides their own criteria for judging St. Louis. I gave him a C Montembault made some good saves. Edmonton moves that puck around the zone like lightning
DON
0-0 is good. Suzuki 3 shots and working hard. Guhle just 3 shifts
Sir_Boagalott
I absolutely loved Slafs attempt at doing the round the outside Anderson move. Too bad it failed. I hope he continues to try that. Another goal by Brendan "I've had enough of this damn rebuild" Gallagher. The funny part of Gally's resurgence is what I've been saying for years. Historically, he's been way too bloody close to the net. However, last year and this year he is usually much further back from the net. ex: lately, when you see him score is he standing on the crease or anywhere near it? Nope. sim.on
Gallagher has been great! He's on pace for over 30, and that's playing with the scraps. His previous years of over 30 goals were playing with Danault who was really underrated.
DON
Much closer game than i expected. Great to see Gallagher score again.

Ya, its tough. Its hard to say what the most relevant aspect should be but development and points should go hand in hand. Either way, we need to see forward progress. Before the CBJ game the Habs were dead last, which seemed catastrophic. However, with that win, amazingly they are now only 3 games back of 8th - which really makes no sense but its true. Seeing how they aren't even at the 1/4 of the season yet I would say that means they are currently "in the mix". i.e.: to make up 3 games when there's 60+ games left is nothing. It's way too early to rate Marty or this season yet. Luckily, a bunch of the other teams aren't doing great either. What teams will get their ducks in a row by the trade deadline or end of season? Who knows - but it could still be the Habs.
IN THE HEARTS OF MEN
Best game of the season for Matheson and this whole D... Responsible and stabilizing in the DZone and dynamic in the OZone...
BCHabnut
3 strong defensive games in a row! Shutout for Monty. Allez allez allez. Nobody sings when gale plays les canadiens sont la. Miss that about the 80s and 90s.
Habs Fan in Edmonton
A really disciplined effort by the Habs. I don't remember the Oilers having any odd man rushes the entire game which is impressive. Have they turned things around?
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Damn, I had to work and couldn't watch this one. But woot! It seems like this is EXACTLY what Commandant and others said would happen - that with time, the team will internalize the new system and turn the corner. Hopefully these three strong games are a sign of things to come.
DON
Nice to see some hard work and keeping them off the scoreboard. Evans 1g1a, he dosent seem to mind a bit of extra icetime. (2014 pick #207)
