I was just kidding since Cole Hutson is a caps prospect.

I know I know.

But honestly in my 48yrs on this earth I haven’t seen another Habs player do the things he does.

My man crush for this kid is beyond real.

LANE F$&king Hutson.

That is all.

Yeah, that kid is such a big defensive liability. He is just an offensive dman, that can't be relied on defensively🙄

He is the most skilled hab i've seen since Lafleur!

I like seeing Slafkovsky near the top of the stat card.

We got a decent team

One could see on a couple of plays during the game that Xhekaj looked out of place. I was going to bring it up. I’m a fan of his but throughout this stretch it’s been Pezzetta, him, Dach and Slaf who have at different times stood out for not so great reasons. Some comments about Struble as well. It’s more an indication of how everyone else has been locked in though. Every little mistake stands out because they are rare at the moment.

Sometimes he’s pretty good. He makes some solid passes. I think he’s coming around… and then he just whiffs. I’m sure he’ll become more consistent. Hoping soon.

I wish he'd move is feet more in puck battles. My biggest complaint this season.

I really liked the one backcheck and quick anticipation after one turnover that Hutson showed, to kill any kind of chance for the caps.

Plays like that, remind of a Makar who just anticipates so well; Hutson aint the fastest but smart player and has broken up lots of plays or stolen lots of pucks form bigger and skilled opponents.

More Hutson props,

Canadiens' Hutson displays underrated defensive ability in win over Capitals - Sportsnet.ca

“Lane is unbelievable,” said goaltender Jakub Dobes, who improved to 3-0 through the first three starts of his NHL career.

“He plays really well offensively, obviously, but his defensive game is pretty good too. So, I’m glad he’s on our team.”

We just might have our #1D.

I was thinking the same thing. We finally have a #1 Dman again.

I also noticed that since Guhle moved to the left side he gets thumped far less. Perhaps it’s coincidence and Guhle is just handling it better but I bet it’s related

I don’t think there’s any doubt about it. He’s not just any old #1, either. He’s a budding all-star defenceman in the Hughes/Makar mould. Best Habs rookie I’ve seen since Carey Price, and probably the best non-goalie rookie I have ever seen on the Habs - and I’m no spring chicken.

The kid is, or will be, elite, and we should savour every shift that he works his magic.

How many times have I bemoaned playing kids on the wrong side? I get that sometimes it’s a necessity due to a lack of options, but it’s still a terrible developmental strategy.

The amusing thing about Guhle is that he seems to have a ‘snark switch.’ Most of the time he goes along doing his thing. But sometimes, it’s like he gets pissed off and decides he’s had enough. This can lead to stupid penalties, but it can also lead to him laying surprisingly big hits on guys.

Who picked Suzuki as 1st star of the game? Looks like the poll had it at 1 person. My choice went to Caufield but he got 3rd.

There are different selections depending where you look as the televised game I watched had Suzuki, Dobeš, Caufield as the 3 stars.

NHL.com shows

1) Suzuki (MTL)

2) Frank (WSH)

3) Caufield (MTL)

So… I’ll go with that one as it’s more official.

TSN picks their own stars.  The official ones are the NHL.com ones.

I agree, thank goodness he came with his charts and medical records to convince the Habs to pick him at the draft.

Guhle is playing to the project expectation when he was drafted. He is a turning into a great top-4 LD. Now, we just need one of the RD prospects becomes a similar top-4 NHLers and with Carrier that should be a really strong top-4.
