rafikz
apparently you've been watching different games than Guy Carbonneau, Bob Gainey, every member of the hockey/sports media, 98% of all fans in the arena, and basically every poster here at habsworld, but whatever you say buddy. Carbo? Give me a break; he has been sucking major ***
Dalhabs
Its scary that we have to use a player like Tom Kostopolous in the last 3 minutes of a game while down 1 goal.
brobin
Its scary that we have to use a player like Tom Kostopolous in the last 3 minutes of a game while down 1 goal. That is the third line.. And carbo did shorten the bench.. the 4th line hardly played... Do we still want to annoint Schneider with a contact extension? he was minus 4.. Breezy with that performance would be getting ripped...

Habber
This coach is a complete joke. How good would Julien look now?? I said his firing was a bad thing and now look. The B's are in first and we're...not sure if we're in the playoffs. WOW...this coach isn't capable of turning things around. Fire the damn coach. Fourth line on inside two minutes being a goal down...DA! Who's available? Pat Quinn would do the job but no he doesn't speak french...like that should be important. Dalhabs
Rumours say hell awaits tomorrow, satan will arise from the ice at bell centre and consume all the hotdogs. Only a win against ottawa on saturday can stop it.
habs rule
they didn't quit. they worked hard. they are on the come back trail. Carey needs to play through this and he will. no knee jerk stupid solutions are going to work. Kovy back sat and tanguay should be close and this will be a different team. I like how the shnide played +- can be decieving. he shoots he hits gets the puck out of his end. so whats wrong?
tommy9
well. another loss... terrible defense, terrible goaltending... and when they really needed it.. they stopped shooting (after seeing them go in when they did shoot..) Pleks had a great chance with 2 to go and did another dumb pass to no one... all he had to do was shoot and crash the net.. grrrrrr Well, I am convinced this team needs a real number one centre, a goalie, and maybe a more consistent winger to go with AK... Hard to see that happening... I am coming around to the view that we are still 3 years away and we need to clear out Koivu, Kovalev, and maybe hammer. Because Pleks passed when he had a great shot opportunity... you can't waste them like that... hmm, I only disagree with the "great shot opportunity" of Pleky appr. 90seconds before end. He was IMHO a little from good angle a he try to pass to a better positioneted player between the circles. But pass was deflected ... thats all ... I know, this is more european solving situation like this ... but look Krejci, Hemsky, Hudler ... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't . Theses are the same words people like you were crying when Julien was coach and Gainey fired him. So now we fire Carbo? So he can go to..........whoever, the friggin Leafs and they end up in first while you ball your eyes out cause we hired Lever and he blows. Stick with it man. Through thick and thin. Once these guys bail themselves out of this they'll be better for it. Price will be fine, let him work through this slump. Carbo will be fine. How long before Habber starts the "Fire Rollie" thread? or "fire Timmins thread" What a joke. We have the tools...We have the players....We need a big centre that will take charge and everyone will follow. We are so close to being great it's not funny. This part sucks, but it's part of it. The kids now are learning not to depend on anyone but themselves. Look at Pleks, A kost, Komi , they all played well tonight. They are the future and are learning that now the hard way. The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Well, I didn't see the game, so I really shouldn't butt in. BUT I will say that it's a typical pattern of teams in slumps that they lose two or three tight contests, in which they play well, before starting to win. Rather than look at the result, we should be assessing whether the team is working harder, working smarter, etc.. Certainly the fact that Schneider scored and that Pleks is flying should be taken as promising. The problem is not losing games where you play well; the problem is all those games where the team played like a bunch of gutless dogs. It's important these guys keep their eye on the ball and keep pressing forward. In short, focus on the process more than the results. Do that, we'll get out of this. Also, they had a brutal travel schedule. That probably explains koivu's dismal performance - he just can't recuperate as quickly as in the past. And crapping on him for this specific effort overlooks that he's been one of the only decent players over the last few games.

KoZed
Check out Sucko's stats for this game: 11 S. Koivu 0 goals 0 assists 0 points -3 0 shots Yes, I will use this opportunity to repeat how much I think Koivu has become useless except for faceoffs. Aside from that, he's a liability. Notice how often Higgins & Dago were alone on the offensive with Koivu hanging back because he can't follow. Notice how Koivu was late to check Malkin when he scored, even though Malkin was the late attacker. The legs & stamina just arent there anymore. Koivu is a faceoff specialist now. Nothing more. Hopefully Tangs come back soon to give Plex some support from a 2nd scoring line.
KoZed
Positive: Plex & Kosty are rolling like I knew they could if they were kept away from Kovy or Koivu Higgy looks more involved now than he had looked since a year ago Schneider is meshing in very fast. Offense is waking up, scoring 3 and now 4 goals. Negative Price still allowed 5 goals Defense still struggles Koivu slows down Higgins & Dago. kaos
Mmmm. Yep the problem was definitley Alexi Kovalev. Wow....WTF? This team is brutal. How could it go so wrong so fast? This is worse than the collapses of 05/06 and 06/

Prime Minister Koivu
Carbo does deserve some of the blame for this loss. We had some players who were very poor last night and they share the blame too. I don't understand why Carbo followed up a great up and down attacking game in Washington with the super trap in Pittsburg. Our guys were literally leaving the Pens with the puck on their goal line to race back and stack up on our blueline. For two periods this crap happened. Just over a minute to go, down a goal, Carbo sends out Kostopolous, Laps and Stuart. Higgins has been dangerous, Kostitsyn and Plekanek have been dangerous. This is nothing new for Carbo though. I'm not putting the sole blame on Carbo because we know that Koivu and Price were especially bad (amongst others) but Carbo does deserve to share in this loss. Chris
The pleks line was on just before the third line went on. The Koivu line was worthless, so unless he wanted to play the pleks line for 2 1/2 straight minutes he didn't have much of a choice. I still don't get all the Price bashing, he wasn't great but what shots were he suppose to stop? The first one arguably but the others were screen shots and deflections. The defensive zone is an absolute joke. They can't win any battles, turn the puck over even with no pressure, soft, they never cover anyone in the slot, if you pay attention and watch the goals going in, they are always in the slot, deflections, screen shots or a player left by himself in front of the golaie. This team is going Know where fast. I don't mind Gc, but i wouldn't be surprised if next year there is a house cleaning of players and coaches. The good news: Pleks line was good They are getting closer to Tavares.

Carbo wanted to reward the Lapierre line. Laps didn't play his best game but he and his linemates clearly deserved to be out there more than Koivu's line did. Price played a solid game. The final two goals were stoppable but neither was a softy. KoZed, I don't agree that we need to keep Pleks and Kosty away from Kovalev at all costs. They were great with him last year, they have as much potential to succeed with him as they do with Pacioretty or Higgins.

Koivu is useless.. so he put out the 3rd line for the second last minute, then had Pleks, Koivu, etc come out for the last minute with the extra man.... Easy Ryder
They showed character. They came back many time in this game and the last goal from Pittsburg was a knife in the heart. A blast 45 seconds after hope of a comeback. Some people didn't like Koivu effort well he still plays on one foot and two games in two night are really tough on a guy who faced more physical adversity than any other player in that team. Proof is that his line was -9 last night. But he is not the only player on that line. Higgins and D'Ago didn't play good defense either. He still managed to win 14 face off and lost only four. Note: Habs are still in playoffs position, no firesale required, wounded players will come back and we'll still meet the Bruins in the first round and defeat them.
