Kind of a big game - not because of the standings but because of the necessity of the Habs putting the slump behind them. This is a perfect opponent to build on the Jersey game: a significantly better team, but not an overpowering team (at least, not this season). Win or lose, what I want to see is the Habs building on the New Jersey contest, with really strong puck support, alert team defense. good goaltending, and some drive to the net and opportunistic scoring. Let's see Pleks and Cammy in particular stepping up their games. If the team puts in a strong overall effort I'll be happy that we're getting back to the fundamentals and that the results will soon follow.

Could see this game going to OT/SO. It benefits both teams to do so.

The Hawks are REALLY hurting down the middle with no Sharp and Bolland. No wonder they went from the 4/5 spot to 8th. Toews is amazing, but Kruger, Johnson, and Dowell behind him is just awful.

Darche will have a great game again tonight and Cammalleri will continue to miss the one-timers that used to be his bread and butter.

Look for Pouliot to get back into the play tonight too.

I was talking to him at hot yoga this morning and he is ready make magic happen and end his slump/

Habs win 5-3

Crossing fingers to see our team clinch their spot tonight. I can't stand waiting for the very last game of the season every time...

We need to win tonite so we can put the AHL'ers against the sens and the laffs

You know the sens and laffs are gonna try to injure a few of our guys. Period. :angry2:

No can do, the 4 Recall Rule prevents this from happening. Even with a win tonight, the most likely changes would be that Auld gets a start while Weber (and maybe Picard depending on his injury) get in the lineup. They're not burning any callups for a near meaningless 2 game stint.

You think the sens and laffs are calling the games meaningless ?

Everytime we play the laffs someone goes down, and the sens have revenge on their mind

So you'd prefer we waste our callups as a possible preventative measure rather than save them for games that might actually matter, in the playoffs? Even if yes, they have 3 or 4 left, it's not like everyone can be protected here. Also, the Sens are absolutely calling this a meaningless game, it'll be a road atmosphere for them despite being in Ottawa, half their farm team is up and they're fighting for dead last. I may be wrong, but I don't suspect they'll be trying hard. Toronto on the other hand, that game could mean something.

Also, from my Picard note earlier, he is unavailable to play this week. Scratch another one off the list of players who could play to give ___ a rest.

I understand your reasoning but it's not a great idea just before the playoffs. If it didn't happen against Boston, it certainly wouldn't happen now.

We'll be fine for the new 2 games, please don't prove me wrong.

Poor gomez.. he really is trying hard to score. He needs to get a bounce at some point.

Ya he's looked good so far. Probably our best for the start of the game.

Actually Gomez isn't poor at all. By the looks of the HW cap calculator he's pulling in about 39 thousand a day.

Maybe Scotty will donate to my " Help Mike Cammalleri buy a goal " foundation for struggling forwards.

Maybe if there's a couple bucks left over he could buy one for himself.

PK.. nice defense !!!!!

Won't work, he can't buy a goal. :)

At this point, someone needs to bounce one off his ass.

Certainly an excellent first period for the first 17 minutes.

lol.. cross checked from behind in front of the net.. happens every 20 seconds and they called a softie... Its not like Hammer "hammered him down" or took away a scoring chance.. just battling. If that was a penalty, we are owed a lot of power plays. :)

I didn't mind a few non calls when the boys were buzzing around Crawford, but those were two pretty soft calls. To be fair though, Subban needs to be careful when he fools around with the puck when he's the last man back.
