OR hone them over the off season and a season in Laval to get used to to the quicker pace & physicality of pro hockey.:spamafote:

AHL is even harder for skilled small players than the NHL, they get targeted by goons and aspiring fourth-liners out to make a name for themselves.

5'7" Simoneau 38pt rookie in Laval last year and doing well this year, so can go fine no matter the size.

He can leave BU anytime by signing an NHL contract ... once he signs an NHL contract, or even attends training camp, they can't decide that BU would have been the best place for him.

(1) "can" does not mean "will"
(2) Simoneau had no reputation to make him a target

5'7 but 183 lbs at draft -- that's 33 lbs heavier than Hutson's draft weight!

Simoneau and Hutson shouldnt really be compared.

Simoneau plays like an absolute pest and is usually the one initiating a lot of the rough stuff despite his size.

That said, i think concerns on Hutson are a bit overblown.  Is his defensive game perfect? No.  But its gonna be passable, especially with the off the charts offence.

Kaiden Guhle is gonna be playing the Left side against the other team's top line for a long time anyway.  As ive said, that kid is gonna be a stud, more valuable than the points he puts up.

With Guhle and Hutson we will have a great one-two punch on the left.  And plenty of competition for the third slot.  Engstrom and the Russian look great overseas.  Xhekaj and Struble are physical options as well.

Meanwhile with Reinbacher, Barron, Mailloux, Kovacevic, Harris, the right side is shaping up too.

The defence should be this team's biggest strength.  Its not an area im too worried about.

I think we need to find one more star level forward and a goalie as needs instead.

Reinbacher 0pts 3 shots 18:55

I don’t get some of the Pietrangelo projections I’ve seen. He doesn’t seem to produce a lot offensively. Not sure if it’s a factor of the league he’s in?
Are Slavin or Vlasic better best case projections that we can hope for?

Partnering with Nate "The Great" Beaulieu.

European Habs Prospects: Konyushkov’s ice time growing - EOTP (habseyesontheprize.com)

"The Montréal Canadiens prospect played just over 21 minutes, having both power play and penalty kill time. While he started the game together with his usual partner, Steve Kellenberger, he received quite a few shifts with former Canadiens blue-liner Nathan Beaulieu."

Is Beaulieu potentially the veteran mentor ... or is Konyushkov carrying the stiffs?

KHL is supposedly weaker now, so Bogdan's #s might be flattering (Wideman did well there also).

But, interesting prospect at least.

Beaulieu a mentor... ugg. Not sure on that one.

Beck 1a, 4/5 on faceoffs mid 1st

61.9% on faceoffs season (best of OHL centres with lots faceoffs taken...i think)

Maybe he'll be fantastic, maybe not. It's really far too early to tell, but it'll be interesting to watch his progress.

Mesar & Guindon doing well.

Catching The Torch: Don’t sleep on Filip Mešár - EOTP (habseyesontheprize.com)

"If his physical play comes along a step or two (which usually only happens with prospects once they hit the pro level), we could see Guindon develop into a solid bottom-six contributor, who can slot in higher up in the lineup when needed."
