Thats fan opinion/ spin One thing I refuse to do is criticize (or praise) a GM because they supposedly wanted X but ended up with Y. E.g., there were credible-seeming reports that Gainey wanted to trade something insane, like Price + Pleks, for Lecavalier in 2010 and that it only fell through because TB's ownership vetoed it. Maybe Bob did and maybe he didn't, but you'll never hear me criticizing him for a mistake which he did not, in the end, make. Same here. Whether or not MB wanted Glass is immaterial. He got Suzuki. And thank goodness he did.

The rumor I remember hearing was Markov or Subban +Plekenec +Higgins and draft picks. If I remember it was a done deal but after it got leaked to the media Tampa GM backed out and NHL block it from happening. ANY trade is judged based on the actual details ... not what shoulda/woulda/coulda been included ... it looked good at the time and has only gotten better as Suzuki has developed

Read something similar in the last 7-10 days on Hockey30 ... assuming it is true, hopefully its not common knowledge around the league as it would drive down his value ... He really seemed to enjoy being here unlike some who don't want to go to Montreal.

What is really troubling about Mad Max is that this is the second NHL organization for which he's started strong, then faded in year two, then been put on the block. That's not a good sign. As far as other teams knowing about this, if we’re talking about it and has been mentioned on other sites, it is out there. Bergy May be stubborn, refuse to take the pile of pucks that will be offered and end up keeping Max...? Fun to speculate.
Habsfan89
Would caps ever think about trading Ovechkin? 35 years old 1 year left on his contract. You would think he would want more than the 9.5mil his making on this contract on his next deal. So would the caps entertain the thought or is he a cap for life. Every time he comes to Montreal, it is rumored that he parties, drinks and contributes handsomely to Montreal's "Escort Service Retirement Fund" He would be a train wreck! Expect he is a Cap for life ... but most importantly I wouldn't want to "pay the price" it would take to get him, even with only one season left on his deal it would be high ... and while Ovie is still an elite scorer it is fair to wonder how long will that continue ... especially when it comes to the term it will take to re-sign him. It’s not like we’ve had even one 45-50 goal scorer for the past 30 years. If he was a UFA this year I’d take him. Even 2 or 3 years would go a long ways to improving our cup chances while price and a Weber are still elite. But I wouldn’t trade him. I can’t see the caps ever trading him either. There are already enough riots in USA cities for the franchise to trade the best player they’ve ever had. It would be like us trading Richard, or Edmonton trading Gretzky, Messier or Coffey - oh, scratch that. Savard refused to trade Lafleur in fear of the repercussions and even when he considered it, the only guy he considered was a for another Quebecer in Perrault.
