The Chicoutimi Cucumber Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Scary how much better that lineup looks, on paper, with Galchenyuk dressed... Quote

It's nice to see some players back in their more ideal spots thanks to Galchenyuk (and Shaw) being back. Mitchell and Flynn are much more ideal fourth liners than top nine (or even top six) options. Now if only we could plug in Markov and Pateryn on the Blueline, then we'll get a better Idea of just how good this team really is! I've got a bad feeling about this game. It would be easy to take the Red Wings lightly. Quote

Pre-game trivia http://thereuschblog.com/?p=43162 Wings at home 8-10-3...not quite the powerhouse anymore are they. Quote
The Chicoutimi Cucumber Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 The Wings are a classy organization, but they feasted for an entire generation on the sheer, insane good luck of drafting two elite FWs in the nether regions of the draft. The praise heaped upon them over the years consistently overlooked this BS luck. They are loooooong overdue for a sustained run of crumminess to compensate. Quote
hockeyrealist Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Zetterberg is having a good year apparently. Earning from and for 2 clubs haha. Grew up wings fan, now a habs man. Happy guy today, go habs go! Quote
JMMR Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Shaw and Nate will have big games. Habs may lose but will be a close one. Quote
dlbalr Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 One lineup change for the Habs from Saturday night - McCarron sits while de la Rose will play. Quote
dlbalr Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 That was one of the most boring periods I've seen in a while. The second pairing combined for a bad turnover that led to an Athanasiou breakaway that Price made a big save on. Quote
Chris Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 i don't know, the 5 shots the habs mustered was exciting for you? need to be way better than that to win this one Quote

Both sides need to pick it up a notch...or two...or six. Quote
Chris Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 They had a breakaway and a couple of scoring chances. i'm not even sure the habs had one. maybe they will get the wake up call between periods Quote
dlbalr Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 A couple of scoring chances generally doesn't constitute that good of a period most games. Athanasiou's was a prime chance and it was nice to see Price make a key stop early. Quote
Guest Stogey24 Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Weber's breakout passes are awful. Quote
Chris Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Well, that looks like the game. Habs aren't going to score. they are just floating around out there. Quote
dlbalr Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Both teams played better that period although that doesn't really say much. Tough break on the Vanek goal as that one was going wide. Quote
dlbalr Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 I picked quite the game to do a 3 Stars column for - some creative writing may be required if they don't get it going in the third. Quote
Chris Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 How do you not score against the wings, going through the motions. Atleast they didn't give up 4 Quote
Scott462 Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Boring game, guys look tired and you can tell they needed their afternoon nap.? Quote
Machine of Loving Grace Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Saw the game live. Thankfully as Media so I didn't pay for anything. Quote
dlbalr Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 For those of you want to relive all the excitement (there may be a bit of sarcasm there), here's my attempt at coming up with the Habs 3 Stars of the game: http://www.habsworld.net/2017/01/hw-3-stars-blanked-in-motown/ Quote
illWill Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 I actually fell asleep during the game. I'm going to assume I didn't miss much Quote

DON Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Well, that was one wild and exciting game, but outshot 20-18. Hey, at least the PK shut down the powerhouse Wings. Quote
