GHT120
Matchup between the 4th (Seattle) and 5th (Montral) lowest scoring teams in the NHL, who are also the 7th (Montreal) and 9th (Seattle) worst in goals against ... AND ... who are 7th (Seattle) and 10th (Montreal )in "winning" percentage (% of poins). No idea what all that will mean on the ice, but at least it is a "hook" to start the thread EDIT: the start time is 7:
alfredoh2009
I am guessing Montembeault starts, I forget the rotation order. That should increase the Habs win probability. Go Habs, Go!
alfredoh2009
Given the current injury situation, I like this lineup : Canadiens lines at warmup: Caufield-Suzuki-Slaf Evans-Monahan-Anderson Pearson-Dvorak-Gallagher Armia-Stephens-Ylönen Matheson-Lindström Guhle-Barron Struble-Kovacevic David Savard and Arber Xhekaj are skating with the group — Arpon Basu (@ArponBasu) December 4, 2023

I also never thought I would say this, but I can't wait for Savard to get back. His defensive presence is missed. I don't understand Monahan with 2 plugs though, I thought Pearson and Gallagher was bad enough.

GHT120
I'd be surprised if either plays tonight ... but WiFi and Savard back on the ice

I am not a fan of Savard, I do not like how he plays goalie and flops on the ice when caught off-position - which is often. He blocks a lot of shots, but he is not my type of defenseman. I prefer how Guhle plays, hard on puck and shoulder to shoulder: physical but disciplined.

Evans may be there to help win more face-offs and to take on the defensive tasks to free the two others. I like it. Gallagher will play his game regardless of the linemates. Ylonen has been doing well on the 4th line, I like him and I think he may become as good as Lehkonen if coaches continue to work on his development. He is fast, has a great shot, and has shown more combativeness this season; if I remember correctly, he said gained more muscle during his off-season training to be stronger on board basttles. Maybe they do want to resign him, and are trying to keep his production low to get him at a lower salary. I can’t see any other rationale for that line combo. Prime Minister Koivu
Love the first line but that second line is a waste of Monahan. I want our top line to dominate tonight. It’s been too long since one of our lines dominated for a game.
Commandant
Could Evans be centring that line and Monahan on wing? Just wondering cause Monahan played wing with Suzuki the last few games. Did he maybe tweak something and is being put on wing?
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Monahan must be looking at that and wondering what he did to make MSL so mad at him 🤷♂️

How many chances will he get ... he is 4th amongst healthy Habs forwards in even-strength TOI and 5th amongst healthy Habs in PP-TOI. I know MSL said "he is back" after his fight ... but at some point, some tough-love might be warranted.

"tough love" was semi-sarcastic ... but at some point, results have to factor into the equation ... they have clearly been trying to spark his "confidence" all season. Commandant
I honestly think Anderson has been better in the last 3 games than he was in say the 10 or so before hand. I think its worth seeing if this leads to goals.

TurdBurglar
The announcer on the Sportsnet feed just said Montembeault has the highest SV% and lowest GAA in 5-on-5 play in the NHL.

I still believe he is too green and that the media is to forgiving; but as a fan, I want to trust MSL knows enough to be right on his approach with Andy. Prime Minister Koivu
Slafkovsky needs to shoot da puck. He had prime chance and dishes to Suzuki instead. Score big boy
Sir_Boagalott
I have no issue with the lines. It almost seems like Kovacevic is looking more dangerous than most of their Forwards when he is in the bumper spot in the slot.

Moving Monahan to wing sure has paid off and Slafkovsky looks great What a fun game to watch
