Habs acquire Patrik Laine +2026 2nd for Jordan Harris

Woooah! Now that is a home run swing! This is the kind of risk you love to see. The risk of course being Laine's 8.7 million cap hit. BUT, the is the last year of the contract if I'm not mistaken.

Wooo that's an awesome.deal.

Harris is all.we give up and we get a 2nd.

With full retention the cost was never going to be great.  How many other teams could take on the full amount?

Hughes decided to use the cap space in this manner and next year just got a whole lot more interesting. Stay healthy Patrick and Kirby!!!  We might have a 2nd line.

Feels like a steal if Laine is even halfway good for us.  Rid ourselves of a low end D prospect and got a 2nd round draft pick in return as well...that's a nice piece of GM work.

Amazing deal for the Habs. We clear out some of the log jam on D and also fill a much needed spot in the top 6. It's a high cap hit, but we have plenty of space and it doesn't hinder anything too important in the near future. We can either resign him, trade him at the deadline next year, or just let him walk to free agency. I fully trust Hughes in each of those scenarios.

Man this team is going to be fun to watch

Hughes is swinging for the fences. Let's see whether St-Louis can work his magic again!

It is a swing for the fences but sometimes you have to take that swing. You can't be conservative all the time.

Absolutely. They have done their homework and they believe this is a risk worth taking, similar to Monahan, Dach and Newhook.
