Tony
I'm sorry, I'm too busy laughing at the seriousness of people thinking Souray-Naslund trade will happen
huzer
Well shortcat, i hope people won't complain about the goaltending, that has been the 1 consistant position the Habs have had for years. No one from Pittsburgh really interests me, they obviously won't get rid of the big 3 centers or there 2 young D-men. Vancouver does have Morrison, but it will take more than Souray to make that trade. With Morrison's struggles, it would take more for Van to get Souray than just Morrison, IMO. Theberge43
One thing is for sure ... Bob has options ... Too many dmen, too many wingers, too many goalies, lots a young potential and missing some game breaking talent especially at center. I'd be surprise if we finish the year with the same personnel ... More then Souray for Morrison? Try Morrison and Kesler or a top pick for Souray. Canucks fans are getting to be like Leaf fans thinking thier players are worth waaay more then they are. Chris
Exactly, the habs for the first time in many years will be ablw to make trades and younger more skilled players taking roster spots. I also agree about the roster looking different, i think it will be younger, more mobile on the D. Souray is UNRESTRICTED, he is not worth Morrison and another player. I don't think Souray is worth a boatload more than Morrison (not a high pick), but I wouldn't have done that trade straight up. He's got 1 year left after this season, so he'll be unrestricted next summer. Which is a good thing. He's 31 now and has a $3M+ /yr contract. and woo...I wouldn't want Kesler with the contract he's got now. Damn Clarke. Hehe.

Athlétique.Canadien
TFP: report from Ottawa Sun / Habs searching for center TheFourthPeriod.com Janne Niinimaa & Sheldon Souray mentioned It's believed he'll likely include a defenseman as part of a package. Whether Niinimaa is involved or not remains to be seen.
Captain_Stealth
Morrison sucks anyway. You shouldn't have said that..... He's overpaid and struggling.... fine. However, the guy has always been solid defensively and a good playmaker and elevates his play come playoff time. Most notably back in 04 against the Flames where he was our top forward. He stepped up big time with Bertuzzi out and he showed what he's really capable of doing. The guy has been clutch for us as well numerous times. Last year he played through an injury for most of the season and no one knew until after the season was over. He didn't complain once. Yea, Morrison is struggling, but his linemates are Bulis and Pyatt(and you all know about Bulis already ). He isn't the only one however. The whole team has been struggling as well. You can carry on with your rumors now.B)
Colin
Bulis and Pyatt That's enough to put anyone off their game.
Gman
www.spectorshockey.net --- under trade rumours Vancouver radio stations report that Vancouver GM Dave Nonis has offered Montreal the following trade: To Vancouver: Souray and a 2nd or 3rd line winger To Montreal: Salo and Morrison No way this happens - why would we give up our goal scoring machine defenceman for another unrestricted free agent and an under achieving centre who will play under the Mtl microscope? Mr. Nasty
Eklund had this to add to the Canuck rumour. I bet his 2 contacts were the 2 radio stations discussing the rumours B) "The Canucks may be looking to move Salo, and Morrison as package, according to a source (e2). There has been speculation that the deal may be to Montreal for Souray +, but I am hearing that the Canucks are discussing a completely different deal with Montreal involving Naslund. My source says that Salo and Morrison have been discussed with a few "eastern conference, non-canadian teams.""
smon
The Canucks need more scoring from their forwards, thus trading a struggling Morrison for a defenseman makes no sense.
RobRock
www.spectorshockey.net --- under trade rumours Vancouver radio stations report that Vancouver GM Dave Nonis has offered Montreal the following trade: To Vancouver: Souray and a 2nd or 3rd line winger To Montreal: Salo and Morrison No way this happens - why would we give up our goal scoring machine defenceman for another unrestricted free agent and an under achieving centre who will play under the Mtl microscope? If this trade were made, and I don't believe it would happen for a second, it would be a bad trade for Montreal. First, you've already got a glut of forwards anyway, so adding Morrison to the mix does nothing to improve the situation. If the Canucks were willing to take Samsonov, then it might make sense but than that's just trading one problem for another. And second, I don't think it's wise to trade one pending free agent for another pending free agent, unless you can get Salo's name on a contract first. There would have to be conditional picks going both ways if the UFAs re-sign with their new teams. The only way this deal has a chance to get done is if Nonis and Gainey are given permission to negotiate new contracts with the players they are getting back, say 30 days. shortcat1
trade rumours don't really move me a whole lot... that's what they usually end up always being - rumours... rumours that only tickle the ear & imagination... Easy Ryder
I would take Morrisson one on one for Samsonov anyday.
smon
Samsonov's not as bad as he seems. He's actually talented, but right now he just looks like a mini and lesser talented version of Kovalev.
Chris
I agree about Samsonov, the question is once Higgins is back what is going to happen. Lats deserves to stay in the top 6. Now is the time trim some fat off the roster and get a quality #2 centerman. The Habs have enough depth to move a top 6 forward and a D to get the centerman they need. House11
Possibility of Fedorov coming to Habsland ? ... would be an interesting 2nd line. But what goes back the other way ? http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/mtl061217.html

But what goes back the other way ? http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/mtl061217.html This story is crap, Fedorov has a 6 mil cap hit next season, should teh Habs get him and not be able to get rid of him after the playoffs, good luck signing even one of Markov or Souray. Habitforming
How bout claiming Ozolinsh off waivers from the Rags? He is not what he used to be but with our depth he would be a good PP specialist and maybe free up the team to move one of the three pending UFA's on D for a trade to get a true 1st/2nd line centre.
