Trizzak
If I had to guess, I'd glean from the comment that he has reason to believe there have been talks between Calgary and Montreal regarding Kristo, potentially in a draft-day trade. How he'd have that information though (unless they have the same agent who likes to report on rumours to his clients) is a mystery. Was it something Feaster communicated to him to convince him to sign with Calgary? I don't know, it seems so random and doesn't seem like something that would be made up on the spot although it's certainly open to interpretation. Who I'd want from Calgary (of whom they haven't said are untouchable) starts and ends at Tanguay, and I don't even think I'd want him for Kristo without seeing what Kristo can do in the NHL. It would have to be involving TJ Brodie or a package for 6th overall for me to see anything else of value involving Calgary. Save a few. Desharnais Kristo 25th. Drouin falls.. booooyaa.. wheresmybong... ..
Commandant
I saw Tanguay in Montreal once. Loved the skill, but hated the SOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF ness. Especially bitching out of playing in that playoff series.

Especially bitching out of playing in that playoff series. He's a perfect replacement for Ryder then. I love how he sneaks into the right spots in the offensive end, usually with a vanishing act on the defensemen. He hasn't lost a step at 33, and I could totally see him on Eller's wing doing great things. Soft great things, but great things.

I've got no interest in Tanguay. The only two flames I'd have any interest are Glencross or Baershi
nihilz
Speaking of Tanguay.. what ever happened to Evgeny Artyukhin? This guy, of all Russians, belongs in the NHL. Shame, I'd love him in Moen's role.

There are or should be deals going on in the back rooms. The NHL would probably frown on announcing any trade that would take place that would deflect any glamour from the Stanley Cup playoffs. I would glean that Kristo and Knight may resume as linemates and/or teammates. I would say that reunion could happen in either city. Because it is happening (or as the story is going) on draft day that a pick or picks are involved. I suppose also there is a possibily, that one is in the deal for the other. Commandant
Flames just traded for Knight and he just signed there (After refusing to sign in Florida). Doubt he's moving. However does he know about a Kristo trade? Could be just a meaningless comment too... I think we have to be careful not to put the cart before the horse. Interesting segue considering they weren't ever on the same team... Artyukhin, after being cut by several NHL teams, has gone back to the KHL. He put up a whopping two points last season and appears to be a fringe player in that league.

But we can speculate from the story, basically because we have no solid imformation from anywhere, because thats what we do. If the story has any credence, why are Kristo and Knight mentioned, what is the surprise and why is it happening at the draft?

However I don't know how Knight would know that anything is going on without it leaking to Bob McKenzie or some of the other guys. And I don't buy the "don't make trades during the finals" thing. We've seen a bunch of minor trades and signings leak out this week... (prospect for prospect see Bobby Butler) and a few others. Kristo isn't a big enough name that the league will care when we have Logan Couture and Pavel Datsyuk and Evgeni Malkin announcing contract extensions. If there is anything to this, it would seem to be a draft day deal (depending if ___ is or isn't available) which means the no trading during the SCF advice wouldn't really come into affect. So it may be a very similar deal Timmins swung with Tinordi, swapping #27 + 2nd rounder for #22 from Phoenix. And would basically be #25+Kristo for Flames #22 pick; if and only if a Mantha, Morin or the like is still on the board after 21?

I can't see the Habs wanting to go for that. If I'm hypothesizing, I'd suggest Kristo is the main piece in a target to acquire a second first round selection in this scenario - either one for one or Kristo plus a lower pick for one of their late 1st's. With Collberg and Hudon in the mix I'm all for using Kristo for swap sustenance. With his UND track record, this city might eat him up lmao

What about more than 3 spots ? Kristo + 25th + a 2nd round pick for a mid-first rounder (12-15) ???

Calgary doesn't have one of those (the only way the rumour makes even the slightest bit of sense is if it's with Calgary, where Corban Knight was just dealt to). I suppose they could (I don't think they would but maybe) but it wouldn't have anything to do with this statement from the Calgary guy. It's hard enough to believe that he'd have insight on Calgary (but given that they had to talk him into signing there, it's slightly possible that it could have come up) but he wouldn't have insight on a team with a 12-15 selection. Who knows how Habs feel about Kristo? Geoffrion won the Hobey baker and still seemed just a marginal NHLer. So maybe Kristo was a 56th pick for good reason and would be almost identical to Tinordi trade where Habs gave up 27th and 57th pick for 22nd? To me, Kristo seems like he should be a productive winger down the road, but maybe Timmins is really keen on some mid-1st rounder ranked kid? And Flames were not afraid to trade down last year, so with 3 picks a trade to add a 2nd may look good to Feaster?
