ForumGhost
As a third line center, and as an assistant captain.
revvvrob
that ship has sailed - too soon to bring him back. i like the new core better than the old core.

Prime Minister Koivu
We don't need that distraction going forward. Half of the team was gutted last year for good reason and I suspect more is coming this year. I love Koivu but let sleeping dogs lay where they are. Chris
Man, this again. No, in case you haven't noticed the the team is getting younger, bigger and faster. Everything Koivu is not.
lazy26
I guess it all depends. Koivu would obviously be a solid addition if his role was limited to more of a depth capacity. I wouldn't want to pencil him in as a 2nd line C, but give him 10 minutes a game and some PP time and I'd love to have him back. I'd love to see him retire in Montreal. huzer
I figured with the all caps yelling, that this was an actual rumor floating around. Thanks, Captain K for the contributions over the years, but the time has passed.
blaze53
Actually I want him back because he still has it, 50 something points in 71 games is still pretty good.

Habsfan84
I would take him but there are other forwards who can do a better or just as good of a job available.
Dalhabs
Could be a cheap replacement for Plekanec if were not able to resign him. Id love to have him back as long as its NOT for over 2M/year and not long term.. 2 years mostly. If it would mean we could trade for Nathan Horton or someone like that it would be awesome. Id not like it to be our MAJOR sign/trade this off season though.
Chris
The cheap replacement for Pleks is named Eller.
Dalhabs
The cheap replacement for Pleks is named Eller. Dont know if I want to rely on a guy with 7 nhl games to replace our leading scorer unless we are going to do a firesale and restart from scratch. btw, noticed that Horton had already been traded... Since we just resigned Plekanec I guess this thread can be closed and forgotten Edited June 22, 2010 by Dalhabs
nikohab
Sorry to whoever disagrees with me, but I think that signing Pleks was in fact an error and we will see the evidence this season. I would of prefered a trade and get a return in order to save some cap space and entertain other possibilities.

Sorry i gotta disagree with that, you dont trade away the players that really help your team. You let go of those other useless players whose salaries add up. If you said that trading Halak was an error then i'd definitely agree lol. Edited June 23, 2010 by blaze53

The Chicoutimi Cucumber
If Koivu is willing to sign dirt-cheap AND willing to be a polyvalent player, deployed at C or the wings as needed, then I certainly would take him back. I could see Koivu in that specific role being a really useful jack-of-all-trades type - offering secondary scoring from the wing in the top-6, excellent 3rd-4th line work, stepping up as 2nd-line C in the event of injuries, etc.. However, given our tight cap situation and the unlikelihood of his accepting the terms I just outlined, I'd say there's about a 1% chance of this happening. BTH
I fear that bringing Koivu back this soon would only mess with the locker room situation. Especially seeing as we haven't named a captain yet.
