During one of the breaks during Sat Feb 12 game, tehy mentioned that Drouin is skating but that he is at least a month a way from returning. he will not need surgery on his wrist, but he is not close to returning :(

I was hoping to see him before the trade deadline. Maybe they don;t want him to aggravate his wrist before that date... ?! 😳

Don't think Drouin is necessarily "in play" for the trade deadline ... another season at $5.5 AAV ... a fair number of games missed and not impressive production over the past three seasons

A 50+ point winger for 5.5M is good dollars and he could be a great trade at next years deadline.

NEXT year ... absolutely

It has been a while since he hit 50 points or even produced at a 50-point pace.

51-point pace this year! :)

My personal expectation is that he'll be in the Habs' lineup next year as well. Whether St Louis can extract more from him -- he certainly should have the tools for that -- remains to be seen.

He scored 53 three years ago ... and is/was on a 51 point pace this season ... but I wouldn't trade for him assuming that was what you were going to get.

Quite. But this season's production, on a pitifully bad team, and injuries aside, at least indicates that he may be over the mental health issues that he has suffered with for the past few years.

Hopefully it's minor. A little rest might be a good thing.  Anybody have any insight on how severe it is?

Seems like a short-term thing.  The problem is that the Habs were at 15 F/6 D on the roster so they needed to put Chiarot on IR if they don't want to send Caufield/Poehling down (waiver-exempt) or waive someone like Paquette/Dauphin.  Next week is a light week for the Habs so Chiarot could only miss today's game and Thursday's.

Thanks, good to know. It shouldn't hurt his trade value much if at all if it's very short term.  Nothing wrong with a little rest before a playoff run with a contender.

TVA wondering whether "Carey Price is done for the season" ... or beyond ... they note that he hasn't skated since Tuesday and that what he was doing up to then was very basic.

They got a bit excited when they arrived this morning because someone told them that Price was on the ice and taking shots ... turns out it was McNiven ... but still good news.

At this point, the only benefit from Price playing this season would be for him to get ready for the next season.

OR ... show he is healthy if he wants to be traded (a possibility, despite what he has said, not a prediction).

for the Habs it is significant to see where he is at so that they can go into the draft and the summer having an idea of the team’s goalie needs

Rather than put Schueneman on the COVID list, the Habs opted to put Tyler Pitlick on IR retroactive to Friday to create the roster spot to activate Chiarot.

OK, so what is the advantage of this move?

No advantage really.

Pitlick has to sit out til Friday

Schueneman has to clear protocols before he can play

No real change if Pitlick was gonna be out til friday anyway.  Just pick one and do it.

TSN noted

Allen 5-6 weeks away

Savard 6-7 weeks more

Dvorak bit of set back or something like today.

TSN690 also mentioned that Price and Edmundson were both doing "off-ice" training.
