Machine of Loving Grace
Bowman looks at his 3 rings, has Toews-Kane-Keith etc and says "so what". That's why teams win Cups and not individual players. Oilers still won a Cup without Gretzky and Fuhr with Bill Ranford winning the Conn Smythe trophy. That doesn't mean the Gretzky trade was a good trade. The team assembled in Chicago was good enough to win, but it's slowly becoming less and less likely to ever repeat with the losses of good young players (Saad, Leddy, Teuvo)

Trizzak
Datsyuk officially NOT playing in the NHL next season. Detroit has to try and trade his contract to a cap floor team or the Wings will have 7.5 mill of dead space working against them.

Detroit has to try and trade his contract to a cap floor team or the Wings will have 7.5 mill of dead space working against them. There aren't many teams who can take that on so it'll be interesting to see what type of sweetener they have to throw in there to get rid of the contract. Sami Vatanen signs a 4 year deal worth just shy of $5M per year with Anaheim. I imagine they'll have to go with a bridge deal for Lindholm now - they have the cap space but they're a budget team and are already over $58M. johnnyhasbeen
What happened to the leaf bashing thread? Here is a good one, just the lead in to the story is funny. "Even Better Roster" What? Even better than the roster that finished dead last? Habsfan84
Leafs acquire Frederik Anderson for the 30th pick this year and a 2017 2nd round pick. The Leafs then signed him to a five year extension but the details of that aren't out yet.http://www.tsn.ca/leafs-acquire-g-andersen-from-ducks-for-picks-1.511624A great return for Anaheim considering they could of lost him for nothing in the expansion draft. The first of many moves teams will make in preparation for it.Also Florida acquires Keith Yandle and now have to find a way to sign him. 6th round pick and a conditional 4th (if they sign him). dlbalr
$5M per year for 5 years for Andersen. Wow, that seems steep.
DON
He is a mediocre goalie eh? I kinda like that the Leafs wont have 30th and 31st pick now.

KoRP
He has a 77-26-12 record with a 2.33 GAA and .918 save percentage over 125 career regular season games...with a strong Ducks team in front of him. Lou said he is one of the league's best goalies. Typical Leaf propaganda... Not going to be the same in Leaf land, but he does have great stats to start his career, let's hope the Leafs do the same to him as all the other goalies they have had for what, 50 years? TheDriveFor25
Good trade for the Leafs. Andersen is young but is already better than Bernier and Reimer. Leafs will be a tough team next year. Hopefully, HABS get better too!
DON
it's 30th this year and 2nd round next year. So your saying the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier today had both the 30th and 31st picks in this years draft and now do not any longer have the 30th pick in this years draft because it was traded to another team. That team also gets a 2nd round pick from the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2017 NHL draft.
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Let's hope Anderson turns out to suck. Wouldn't be the first goaltending 'saviour' who gets ruined by Toronto (bonjour, Ben Scrivens!). However, TO is no longer being run by buffoons, so he will probably turn out to be good even removed from the sheltering confines of Anaheim. Commandant
Anderson isn't bad. He's just thoroughly average as far as NHL starters go.
xXx..CK..xXx
Anderson isn't bad. He's just thoroughly average as far as NHL starters go. So is Murray in my opinion. Luckily the Leafs don't have a player of Crosby, Malkin or Kessel's skill level.
JoeLassister
As per TVA Sports, the Pens would have asked for a 1st rounder from the Flames for M-A Fleury. Doubt the Flames would trade #6 oa for Fleury, so they'll have to be creative and grab another 1st if they want to do that.< http://www.tvasports.ca/2016/06/21/un-premier-choix-pour-fleury ++++ Other rumour, as per RDS.ca, Kevin Shattenkirk would be shopped around the league by the Blues... The Bruins would be one of the top teams in line for Shattenkirk. Article says that the Bruins could be tempted to make an offer sheet on a RFA dman (Seth Jones, Hampus Lindholm, Dumba or Trouba) as they don't have the assets for a proper trade. http://www.rds.ca/hockey/lnh/lnh-les-blues-de-saint-louis-pourraient-echanger-le-defenseur-kevin-shattenkirk-1.3433961
Meller93
So is Murray in my opinion. Luckily the Leafs don't have a player of Crosby, Malkin or Kessel's skill level. Is that sarcasm? To me Matt Murray has done nothing but prove he is one of the best goalies to come along since Price himself. He pulled a Patrick Roy in winning a cup as a rookie, and has posted phenomal numbers consistently throughout his entire career
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Boy, a team would have to be desperate to trade a 1st for Fleury IMHO. If you're looking for a fine regular-season goalie with a track record of bombing out in the clutch, then he's your man. It's not a coincidence that the Pens finally won the Cup after replacing him. I'll never understand the mystical hold he's had on the Pens or on the league in general.
