Davidson 1g2a, 1st star Jared Davidson Has a Monster Game (1G/2A)/Primeau Gets 12th SO/Roy Scores 14th - Highlights 1-10-25 - YouTube Laval Rocket @ Cleveland Monsters Friday, January 10, 2025 | TheAHL.com | The American Hockey League https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/laval-rocket-cleveland-monsters-2025-01-10-recap-score-highlights-cayden-primeau-shutout-joshua-roy-alex-barre-boulet-joshua-roy/ "William Trudeau and Adam Engström re-formed the top pair, while Noel Hoefenmayer and Logan Mailloux lined up on the second... Filip Mešár picked off a puck along the boards, and fed it to Laurent Dauphin, who was wide-open in the slot... It took under a minute for the Rocket to make the Monsters pay for their mistake as Joshua Roy converted an Owen Beck feed to make it a blowout." DON
Simoneau, Trudeau, Farrell futures? Rocket Weekly: Three Points in Cleveland – HabsWorld.net "As we near the midway mark of the season, I generally start to ponder the fate of some of the pending RFAs coming off their entry-level contracts each summer. Are they in a spot where they’re likely to be retained or are they safe bets to be kept? This year, it feels like all three have some questions."... "Usually by now, we have a reasonable idea of which prospects will stay and which are likely to be let go. With these three, their fates appear to be still up in the air making their individual performances in the second half a little more important." alfredoh2009
Farrell is an AHL lifer, Simoneau will play well in Laval but suck anywhere else. He shows pride in playing for the Rocket but Indoubt he would be as pumped playing on other teams. neither has a future with the Habs. Trudeau has peaked IMHO

Trudeau has peaked IMHO Farrell: As a Harvard graduate (Economics) I wouldn't be surprised that Sean either walks away or decides to spend a couple of years playing in Europe once he decides his NHL dream is over ... unless a Montreal lass has cast a spell on his heart. Simoneau: AHL teams do need core veterans, but not certain he is productive enough to invest in ... suspect his future depends on how much he wants to stay in Laval or whether another team sees potential ... might he actually get offered more on an AHL contract as he would be encumbering an NHL contract slot? Trudeau: Is he good enough to be the 7D on the Habs ? Happy to draw a paycheque and not worrying about TOI/GP.

Primeau seemed to be fighting the puck all night and the 2nd and 3rd goals seemed to be weak. He looked small in the net, or too much back (not challenging the shot). I watched Condotta take faceoffs. He seemed to be at around 50%, not particularly good or bad at it; but it was obvious the coaching staff trusted on important faceoffs. Maybe he improves. The 4th line, Davidson-FlorianX.-Tuch was dominant in the 3rd period and won the game. Lindstrom had an excellent game too Here are video highlights (editing is terrible though, choppy)

GHT120
5 minutes ago, DON said: Will an older rocket or younger one get the next call up? Likely depends on how they plan to use them ... for example, Roy may not be the choice if the plan is to use the call-up on the 4th line. Lanes World
I agree with you but beck will be called up at some point this year. With Evans contract coming up, management will need to at least see how far beck is away….

tomh009
On the latest Arpon/Basu podcast today (ugh, I would really much rather read a written story than listen to a podcast!) they talked about Mailloux and Engstrom. Godin had been talking to Pascal Vincent, and, as we had suspected, he has been giving Mailloux tougher defensive assignments and little PP time, as he wants Mailloux to be dependable defensively, he already can provide the offence. So the stats dropped a lot once Vincent did that, as expected. Godin and Basu felt that neither Mailloux or Engstrom would be ready yet to step into an NHL role at TDL this year, need more seasoning in the AHL. But, for an injury/sickness short term call up, why not. Mailloux still can use more AHL time for development in own end most would agree and just 21; but he now has 103 AHL games under his belt and 2 AHL All-Star jerseys.
