Noel Hoefenmayer will play for Canada at the upcoming Spengler Cup.  So the Habs will have one player there and one at the WJC's.  That's a lot less than usual.

In other Laval news, Dobes is back tonight and I think Mesar is too.

Charles Hudon is on that team too.

Yup, a 'fiesty' game

Jakub Dobeš shines in Laval’s heated win over Belleville

"Dobeš got the start in net, while Mesar rejoined Owen Beck and Jared Davidson on the young guns third line. Arseneau’s heavy presence was returned to the fourth line with Luke Tuch and Florian Xhekaj while Riley Kidney and Sean Farrell were healthy scratches."

"Then, as things often do in these contests, everything began to become a bit unhinged. Zack MacEwen put a shot on goal, and followed it up by slashing Dobeš in the neck,..."

Tuch maybe needs to go to Big George's fight-camp.

"Tuch landed a huge hit on Garrett Pilon in the defensive zone, which in turn led to Donovan Sebrango chucking the gloves off and forcing Tuch into a lopsided fight."

"The intermission did very little to simmer things down, as MacEwen came out into the period to throw a late and hard hit on Adam Engström."

I missed a good game. Glad The Rocket stood up to Belleville and won. I am also happy (from your post) the 🤩 Beck 🤩 was on the scoresheet

could only find the edited 60 minute version of the the game on RDS, not the whole game. It is hard to tell how well or bad the players performed.

Beck was the Rocket's best faceoff man from what they showed, when he fought, the Crunch took a big piece out of the lineup for a while.

Wotherspoon was 3rd star, but I didn't like it when he was too slow to come back on one of the goals, he seemed slow at times.

Some of the players that have returned from injury seem to have lost some of the speed they may had: Gignac, RHP, Simoneau. This game, they looked slow.

They seemed to mostly shoot from the perimeter and when they had an open lane they often missed the net.

With Tuch and Arsenault out, the team lacked a spark. Maybe the team waned to play more skilled players who haven't played in a while or to "show case" someone: but that seem so unlikely I am even not sure I should post it... it was a bad game from the team.

As noted above, when asked about Tuch being out Vincent said "I thought recently that he got a way a little bit from his game[...] A little bit of his puck management, a little bit of too many turnovers[...] I want him to get back to his identity."

Oh brother, he is hurt again!

Quote

Brandon Gignac would miss out with an injury, allowing Luke Tuch to rejoin the fourth line

Ah! that's why I didn't see him that much

Things got a lot more difficult for the Rocket when Mailloux was whistled for hooking, and showed his displeasure with the call in such a way that the officials also assessed him a 10-minute misconduct.

🤩 Beck 🤩

Rocket Weekly: Struggles Versus Syracuse – HabsWorld.net

"Lastly, Primeau has been a solid AHL netminder in the past when he’s on his game.  If he goes down with the right mindset of getting some confidence back in a lower-pressure setting, he should be able to help the Rocket win some games and keep their goaltending as a strong spot...."

looking at the Rocket roster, it is interesting to see so many RFAs/UFAs. The AHL is always a revolving door, but the players on contract years coupled with the rookies this season makes for an interesting mix (IMO):

expiring UFAs:

Condotta, Barre-Boulet, Gignac, Hughes

expiring RFAs:

Harvey-Pinard, Primeau, Simoneau, Farrell, Trudeau, Lindstrom, Hoefenmayer

HughGort traded picks to get Dach, Newhook and to move up for Hage. There may be a shallower pool in Laval in 2-3 years. For the moment, Laval has a young team with most prospects signed. The recent loses may be due to the process of learning to win as a team. I think Pascal Vincent said so recently.

one think I noted in the last couple of games is the lack of chemistry between Mesar and Beck. Mesar has not found his synchronism yet and often seems lost on the ice. But he is talented, I look forward to seeing him once he catches up.

Also, the Rocket's bottom-6 has not been playing with energy for a while now. According to one commentator on RDS, the rotation due to the extra forwards in Laval means that some of the bottom pairs'/trio's players seem to find it harder to keep their intensity level high when in/out of lineup.
