Tampa comes back to beat Pittsburgh, Calgary wins, Florida loses. A good night!

I think that Calgary pick will land somewhere between 10 and 20, which should still be a good prospect in the 2025 draft.

That's what I am hoping, Calgary is playing tough. If they can rack up enough wins now then they can afford to fade a bit down the stretch.

In the 2022/23 season Iggy had 6 goals. Going into his draft year, nobody and I mean nobody had him going top 10. Sure, by the time February rolled around he had a great year of development and had rocketed up the draft charts.

It's entirely possible the Habs would have taken him had Demidov and Lindstrom both been taken. I really like Iginla.

You seem to be missing the point that before his draft year his team was incredibly strong with Sr players.  Iggy was playing on the 4th line with no special team time and getting 4-5 mins/game.  It wasn't hard to realize that when his 19 year old teammates aged out of Jr that his ice time would increase and his stats would skyrocket.

I wouldn't refer to that as development at all, I'd use the word opportunity.   ex:  its unlikely that he developed a top 5 shot in the last draft last year.  Its more like he finally had the opportunity to show how good his shot is.

It wasnt just opportunity... and yes a shot is going to develop when someone joins the WHL.  The weight training a strength put on during Junior Hockey, as well as the natural growth of these kids often leads to harder shots and more scoring when they go from 16 to 17

I see what you are saying but there was no guarantee his stats would skyrocket just because he got more ice time.

It’s horrible.

But it’s great for draft positioning..

Silver lining my friend.

I guess it's a silver lining but I was really hoping the young guys would have a good development year and we move up in the standings. It's still early.

CHL vs NTDP at 7pm again game is on TSN

At least the NTDP goalie kept that one close.

There are at least two more years of this series to come with a mutual option for a fourth year.  Hopefully it'll be a bit more competitive those times but this was a stronger Canadian crop relative to the American group this season.

Might be even less competitive if some of those USHL teams end up moving to the OHL.

I had seen a number of clips of Guite and was really impressed with his shooting ability however he is off to a terrible start in the Q, just 5 goals in 23 games.

Michael misa has been suspended by the chl for flipping a teady bear back into the crowd during the toss. Discuss.

Teddy Bear tosses are charity events for the home team and flipping one back into the crowd is, I-M-O, something for teams to consider ... I doubt it is a serious issue ... it likely reflects a moment of immaturity, unless other events combine to make it a character concern.
