Yes, a big part of the joy I have in watching the Habs is seeing the young players develop with two of the brightest being Dach and Newhook. That is now gone. I also enjoy watching Arber kick some butt but now he is hurt again. The sources of enjoyment are rapidly dwindling.

Apologies ... thought you were referencing "they can make the playoffs" fringe.

The Chicoutimi Cucumber
As a big advocate of letting kids develop in the minors, I can hardly oppose this - but I'll admit to some disappointment. WiFi is one of the most entertaining players we have during these dismal times, and I'm a believer in the kid. Hopefully he does indeed get on a good run and we see him back up soon.

johnnyhasbeen
How long in the AHL before someone tries to make a name for himself by dropping with him? Hope he doesn't hurt his hand...

I see as similar in a bar when some drunk tries to pick a fight, maybe just because he is 'famous' or a big tough NHLer, does not mean he needs to start chuckin the fists. Right, but everyone has their point where they do fight back. For some it is a short straw, others it is life or death but we all have our point. I don't think Wifi has a very long straw. Just my view.

Same as worry over Slafkovski getting targeted in the AHL, i still thought he should of been sent there to play top line & PP time and would of been fine. Xhekaj might fight some and may get jumped by some idiot, but again i think risk isnt too high for him to go & play top minutes in Laval. Hope he works on all aspects of his game, with an emphasis on defending better and not taking as many dumb penalties. He might not be there too long anyways? dlbalr
4-6 weeks for Pearson so someone will be coming up from Laval. Now that Heineman has a couple of weeks under his belt, this might be his time to be brought up.

Now that Heineman has a couple of weeks under his belt, this might be his time to be brought up. Arpon Basu today quoted Heineman as being focused on getting back to 100% and helping the Rocket put together some wins: Quote One of the younger players trying to play himself into game shape is Emil Heineman, who missed six weeks with an upper-body injury. When asked after that game against Belleville about his own progress, he found it difficult to concentrate on himself while the team was in such a downward spiral. He talked about how his timing was still off after his third game back from injury, but his mind wasn’t there. It was entirely focused on trying to get a win for his team. When asked about a possible call-up to Montreal eventually, with all the injuries up front for the Canadiens, Heineman was unable to even consider it. “Right now it’s hard to look too far ahead,” he said. “You just want to get off that streak and start winning. It’s what we’re here to do, no matter what.”
DON
Heineman is 22 now, has 8g 13pts in his 18 AHL games, cant see him being a big downgrade on Pearson and guess Pearson's trade value drops much lower, after a nice start in Oct. (Whats Heineman's game like, a bit slower Ylonen?)

I would call up Gignac (if that is possible) because of his speed and intensity; or Kidney because of his creativity and skill with the puck which may help the power play. Heineman needs to find his timing, he is not ready yet after returning from injury.

Merit wise, he should be under consideration. Kidney is someone I want nowhere near the NHL right now, he'd get eaten alive out there. Yes, he's playing a bit better lately in Laval but no, he's not remotely close to being ready.

Commandant
Heineman is far more of a PP specialist than Kidney.
