JMMR
Habs will probably win this one. They are not smart enough to lose 10-15 in a row.
Chris
I'll take that bet. Jets 5-1. It's about time to start putting some blame on the players at this point. If they didn't like JM, Pearn, etc. Fine. They are gone. Wake up already.
brobin
Habs will probably win this one. They are not smart enough to lose 10-15 in a row. LOL.... it is true that this is the game to win, but I don't expect the Jets to be pushovers. I hate these "last game before Christmas" games as most players are already on holidays in their heads. (kind of like me today ). It goes for both teams, but you just never know how either team is going to play. The key to a win tonight is simple. Our forwards have to ALL showup. We need all the lines contributing. Lately we get one line or the other, which simly is not good enough.
brobin
By the way, i am hearing there may be some sort of "anti Anglophone" rally at the Bell Center on January 7th. If that turns out be be huge, I might just give them what they want as an English fan. I might just go away after 4 decades of telling people "this is Canada's team'. bar
Cammy has to take the stick out of his butt over whatever is bothering him. He is paid to score, he is not, in my eyes he's as overpaid as Gomez. This probably sounds like hyperbole but it's true. We talk and talk about the young players and their mistakes, the vets have to stand up and earn their money. I know it's not my money paying these players, but in a cap system, it is alright to bring up salary as it takes X% of available resources. Chris
The other key is not giving up 5 goals and scoring more than 1.
bar
To be honest Chris, it's not like the habs routinely give up 5 goals, I agree 100% with your statement about scoring only one goal. To me the troubles start purely with the forwards, with the D we have, the team has given up surprisingly few goals, it's the forwards who cannot bury their own goals. Chris
I agree with you, it's a combo of things for me really when i watch the, No emotion, can't win 1 on 1 battles, soft defense in fornt of the net, no net drive,. For all this speed they are supposed to have they sure get caught from behind alot and don't produce any odd man breaks. When they do, they don't even get a shot. Pleks does the skate around the net turnover thing, DD tries some blind pass to someone. I am not a debbie downer, i know what i see and it isn't good. The only thing i like is the goaltending currently.
Willey101
I will stick to it that I really think they need to separate Gorges and Subban. We have too many Left D-men who are forced to play right and it is hurting us. Separate Gorges and Subban and let's put people back in their comfortable position. Personally I would sit Campoli tonight and go with: Kaberle-Gorges Gill-Subban Emelin-Diaz I am fed up of seeing Emelin sit and going with guys who are not doing anything. And when Emelin finally gets a shot he's not playing in a comfortable situation.
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Remember last year's team? Plucky, determined, self-sacrificing and on the whole successful. I want to see those guys again. I think they really miss Gionta's leadership on the ice. Just saying.

We've heard him say nothing publicly and his play has been as bad as anyone on the team. Leadership was supposed to be the strong suit of this team yet nobody is stepping up and this team continues to fail.
brobin
One other thing.. while Subban put on the goat horns last night after the game, where are the other guys stepping up and taking ownership? Where is Pacs saying "I can't be hitting posts on wide open nets, I have to bury that one". If Pacs buries his chances last night, we might win. Where is Cammy "I have sucked, I have to play better. With Gionta and Gomez out, the team needs me to step up and show some leadership". Etc... This team from the top down needs to step it up. I don't think they are a great team, but they are playing below .500 potential right now.

Dalhabs
I think I'd rather trade Cammy now and keep Gomez. If we lose tonight Im for a firesale. Is there some way to get Jordan Staal out of Pittsburgh?
alfredoh2009
Separate Gorges and Subban and let's put people back in their comfortable position. Agreed, If they must pair them for PK duty, that's ok. But they shoul dbe separated for 5-5 But on tha pairings, I would rather see: Kaberle-Gorges Emelin-Subban Gill-Diaz
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Gio struggled with injuries this year. As usual, Willey, you are choosing to take some bad weeks as representative of the 'reality' of players. As for the lack of accountability on this year's team, I agree 100%. And because this was in no way the case in past years, I think it points to some very serious internal rifts that have developed in the room. These guys are playing and acting like guys who don't like each other very much. The inner cohesion has crumbled and will likely require offseason surgery, whatever happens with management. Im just wondering where the leadership has been since last year's playoff disaster. We needed to win 2 of 5 games and couldn't do it. Since then there just seems to be a lack of commitment from most of the players. Agreed, If they must pair them for PK duty, that's ok. He did play his best hockey alongside Diaz so I would start them and then see. Just need Gorges back on the right side.

Something bad has happened to that. For my money, when you see this sort of thing happen (which we did in Montreal in 2009 and in 1992) - but especially when a proven core suddenly goes sour - it's because internal conflicts have come to the fore and poisoned the well. The issue may be as simple as the Martin-backers (Gorges, Gill, likely Price, whoever else) being pissed off at the Martin-killers (Cammy, Gomer Pyle, Kosty, whoever else). Or it may be as complicated as someone sleeping with someone else's wife, something like that. Unless there is some sort of kiss-and-make-up session, a purge will likely be needed. Commandant
Really? Where was Gionta's leadership at the beginning of the season? We've been horrible since day one. We've heard him say nothing publicly and his play has been as bad as anyone on the team. Leadership was supposed to be the strong suit of this team yet nobody is stepping up and this team continues to fail. Before being fired, Martin said that Gionta has been playing hurt all season, and that he finally aggravated it. As for Subban he's 22 years old, playing the most minutes on the team... in the toughest matchups and is -2 on the season. Yes he's made mistakes lately... but lets not make this more than it is. huzer
I usually don't post in GDT out of some superstition. However, I don't think me posting here can make things any worse. Hopefully, even if it's a loss tonight, it's a team I can see at least some speck of emotion from.
