Sir_Boagalott
On 7/24/2024 at 10:41 AM, Prime Minister Koivu said: They had a “very positive conversation about how we would develop Ivan in SKA. There was no talk even about him leaving for Canada.” Hughes is so damn slick I have a funny feeling that Demidov will play in the NHL this year. As per the CBA rules the Habs can't attempt to buy him out of his KHL contract. The Habs aren't willing to risk doing anything that would break the CBA rules. However, it is up to Demidov to ask SKA to release him. Has Demidov been signed by the Habs yet? I don't believe that he has - and the Habs have an abundance of Cap space. Therefore, Hughes could potentially sign him and give him a generous signing bonus which Demidov could gift to SKA to release him.

How generous that bonus can be still has a limit governed by the rules of an entry-level.contract.

To piggyback off this, for anyone wondering, the maximum signing bonus for an ELC is $97,500.
DON
KHL starts Sept 3rd, so just another month or so to see if he gets 'ok' amount of KHL icetime. Don’t Read Too Much Into The Demidov Joint Development Plan – HabsWorld.net "... I’m hopeful that SKA will be able to at least accommodate parts of it. But I’d stop short of calling it a joint development plan as Rotenberg suggested..."

Realistically, it took Suzuki numerous years to hit 30 goals and can he hit 40? Insanely, Dach could be as good or better than Nick. Dach could be an 80+ pts guy but with Demidov that might change to 100+ pts. At the worst Demidov will be a 80 pts guy and he should easily hit 100 and possibly 120+ pts. There is a chance that he is as good or better than Celebrini. You really think Demidov can hit 100 points?? WOW that's alot! I don't even dare hope he gets 90 points. I'd be happy if he turns into a point per game player in his prime. I guess when it's been close to 40 years since your favorite team hasn't had a 100 point player, our expectations take a drop! Commandant
At the worst, newly drafted player will hit 80 points is the one that's more weird to me than saying he might get 100. He might get 100. He might not be an NHL player five years from now. Prospects bust, it happens, and you are guaranteeing a PPG player? that's insane. He's not Sidney Crosby or Connor McDavid where there is some degree of guarantee.

If SKA doesn't make the playoffs, then that would mean Demidov could be playing in Montreal for the final 15-20 games of the season!? Its SKA, they are a contender to win the whole thing every year. Putin's favourite team and they seem to spend more money than anyone else (with no investigation if they are under the salary cap), get favourable calls from officials, etc.... Prime Minister Koivu
Demidov goes end to end, banks the puck off the boards, splits two defenders, picks up his own bank pass, drives to the net…no goal but what a play in game one of their season.
