He's gonna score 100.

That's what I'm hoping for. It's been a looooooong drought!

Other thing I was thinking about is just imagine the impact a guy like Demidov could potentially have on Dach's career! Dach could be a 60 point guy, but if he plays with a guy like Demidov, he could turn into a 75 point guy!!

I'm getting my panties all wet just thinking about the possibilities with Suzuki, Caufield, Slaf, Dach and Demidov.

Ya ya , he hasnt even scored 1 point yet and already folks heaping huge expectations on the poor kid.

How will he handle the crazy media scrutiny next spring

No doubt there will be high expectations but Demidov seems to have the personality to survive in a hockey crazy city like Montreal.

I don't think he's reading the Habsworld Forums.

Unfortunately, we have no idea how good Dach is and we still haven't seen him play a full season yet.  Realistically, it took Suzuki numerous years to hit 30 goals and can he hit 40?  Insanely, Dach could be as good or better than Nick.  Dach could be an 80+ pts guy but with Demidov that might change to 100+ pts.  At the worst Demidov will be a 80 pts guy and he should easily hit 100 and possibly 120+ pts.  There is a chance that he is as good or better than Celebrini.

At least Demidov has 99.99% (100%?) of Habfans approval starting out, unlike Slafkovski and Reinbacher.

That is true. I don't recall anybody here being upset with the pick. Hopefully that's a good thing and he doesn't disappoint. The talent and attitude certainly seem to be there. What could go wrong??

Ugh, I hate your last question. Lots can go wrong for an organization as snake bitten as this one has been.

Still, as I’ve noted in the past, Demidov is the first Habs’ pick in FOREVER whom the experts have more or less unanimously hailed as an absolutely top-end, elite offensive talent. Commentators have used words like “star” and even “superstar.” All of our past picks since Wickenheiser have come with various caveats attached. Even Galchenyuk had missed a year of development due to injury, with some uncertainty as a result. The rest of the time, we get Reinbacher-style feedback: “oh, this kid will probably be a really good, all-around stud #2 D-man.” I mean…great, a useful, valuable piece for sure, but nothing like the language the experts are using for Demidov.

(A lot of this may be due to Timmins’ formula, which *seemed* to prioritize all-around solidity over top-end talent. But I’m speculating).

So I think excitement is very understandable. This never happens to us, LOL. So we’re pinching ourselves.

I think we still need that bonafide, absolutely dominant, star Dman.  We have a strong Dcore but it lacks that star.

Perhaps Hutson is that star

Or Reinbacher. Both are very good, we just don't know yet exactly how good.

Dont know if Reinbacher will be PP#2 QB or not, but adding Demidov & Hutson shouldnt hurt the PP one bit.

Cant remember when last year they had a solid PP, for last few years it has been hard to even watch it at times, just so dysfunctional it seems.

I could be wrong but I just don't see Reinbacher as QB on the power play. I see a good all around defensemen but not the elite puck skills required to be a QB. I think of the young kids that Hutson/Mailloux are much more likely to fill that role.

Habs PP has sucked since we lost the general. Hopefully, Hutson can be that guy.

aHitaon I agree. I see Mailloux having more of the Subban/Weber, shooter role. Hopefully, Hutson can be the new general controlling the play.

The additions of Dach Hutson and Roy next year should help that 2nd PP unit immediately.

Hutson will QB a unit almost certainly...

It's more a question who gets the one timers on each side of him.

That's the way I see it. Mailloux has a tremendous wrist/slap shot, very similar in a lot of ways to Evan Bouchard or Shea Weber. Huston will be the guy controlling the puck, bobbing and weaving trying to create some open space and finding the open guy. That's what I hope anyway.

That sounds extremely tantalizing. Of course it assumes that both can make the jump to being NHL regulars. I’m pretty sure Huston will; Mailloux is another question.

Before Hutson played his last 2 games with the Habs I was more optimistic in Mailloux being an NHL regular. The last 2 games (small sample size) seemed to indicate that Hutson's offensive skills will translate to the NHL. I sure hope so. I really think Mailloux will be an NHL regular. He had an excellent season at the AHL level which was important for his development. His shooting is elite, puck handling is excellent and he is big and strong. Like any young defenseman, he needs to work on the defensive side of his game but that will come.

I think Mailloux is well on his way to being an NHL regular. The success of his first season in the pros was impressive, even more so missing a full year of junior development.

I think he's on his way to being an NHL regular, either this season or in 2025-26 depending on camp.  Yes, he still needs work on his D, but I think he's an NHLer.

The question is.... is he a 5/6, a 3/4, or a true number 1.   I'm don't think he's a number 1, and I could see him a second or third pair guy.

I think the floor is Nathan Beaulieu.  What is the ceiling though.
