TurdBurglar
The only positive from the potential Laine injury is Montreal didn't pay a king's ransom for him. Even that isn't something to hang your hat on.

I understand Xhekaj feeling he needed to stand up for Laine. But after two or three shots and Pare just laying there, move along. If you feel he warrants more, do it later on. Xhekaj just completely lost his cool and it's the other four defenders who have to pay for it.

dlbalr
No shocker there on either front although that Reinbacher one was just weird.

It's preseason, with most injuries an over abundance of caution will be taken.

Unwilling participant in Pare, but the Department of Player Safety might not consider that a fight since the gloves stayed on. A technicality to get them out of having to do anything. That being said, the call on the ice was fighting.
Sir_Boagalott
D'oh, I missed the 1st 10 mins so I didn't see how it all went down. I saw some replays but I'd like to see longer clips and other angles. I saw a clip of Arber punching the guy but they didnt show how it started. I get the impression Arber jumped him though and from behind. I have no problem with Arber fighting him but he should do it smarter to not trigger the Instigator penalty. Last year, Mittelstadt hit a Habs (Slaf I believe) and Arber knocked the him around like crazy and he didn't get a penalty for doing it. He should have done the same to Pare and their entire team and especially their top players.

Last preseason they called anything the remotely looked like a cross-check in wake of the rule change. Then relaxed the standards for the season. Umm, body checks are completely legal, even in preseason. The 1 hit he made along the boards was a penalty - but 2 mins is much preferable than 17 mins and game. Just wait until Slaf misses time from breaking his thumb or something in a fight - that could have been completely avoided if only he had a bit training on how to do it properly. dlbalr
Good for Condotta to take a couple of shifts on defence that period. Hopefully he takes a few in the third just to take a bit of pressure off the other four.

However, they will both likely be obsolete soon. I've liked what I've seen from Davidson so far and want to see more of him. He seems to have a level of Claude Lemieux in him. i.e. he seems to be an agitator. In 1 the previous games I saw him do 4 things that made me chuckle. 1 was the play was going towards the Habs end and he was nowhere near the puck but 2 players on the other team were slightly behind him and out of nowhere he threw his shoulder into 1 of them right into their sternum. It surprised the hell out of the guy he hit.

Habs Fan in Edmonton
Yup, just awful, a couple injuries and losing at home to the Marlies on a Saturday night. WTF I know it's just a pre season game and the Habs are so good that they can just turn it on when the season begins but still. I am a little sarcastic and cranky right now but I am self aware.
