moderators? Anyone?

You don't follow their directions, and continue to provoke.... why should I?

You want to cause issues after being warned and then hide behind them?  What are you, a ####ing child? Throw a shot at someone and then hide behind your mommy and daddy when you get hit back?

P.S. How's the weather in Ottawa?

Change your location on your profile. It clearly states Ottawa. 😮

Call the people in witness protection.

Make a pseudonym.

If all that fails, just switch out your nose, eyes and lips. You’re a potato head. He will never recognize you.

Just ignore him and don't respond.  If you have a strong compulsion to respond you should put him on ignore.  Nobody will be tagging his posts so you can see them.

Ranking NHL’s 5 best rookies so far in race for 2024-25 season’s Calder Trophy - The Athletic

image.png

There has been a lot of talk about some of the defensive mistakes Hutson has made but some of that is also just a natural byproduct of how much he’s out there. At the end of the day, he’s playing 23 minutes per game on one of the worst defensive teams in the league — and debatably in recent history.

Okay, enough is enough.  Clearly, the light approach isn't working as it continues to escalate on both sides.

Alfredo, why you continue to poke the bear makes no sense.  All you're doing is asking for trouble and making the mods' lives harder.  Give it up.  Put him on ignore, or don't engage.  I don't care what you choose, I just care that it ends now.

Commandant, while I realize you have been provoked (quite a bit), your response also clearly isn't acceptable, just as the provocation on the other end wasn't either.

I barely have time to be on here and I'd like what little time I have to spend actually discussing the Habs, you know, the purpose of this forum.  Like many on here (as we're receiving feedback with complaints about both of you), I'm fed up with this as I'm sure you guys are as well.  We tried the polite way and hoped that this could be a squabble that cooler heads would eventually prevail but that's not happening.  I have no interest in getting into the behind the scenes discussions of proportional suspensions that will only stall the problem and again, I also don't have the time.

So while you are both valuable posters here, this is a final warning.  If this continues, from either of you, it's not going to be a suspension but a more permanent departure from the board.  It's not the outcome I want for sure, nor admittedly is it fair; this is more heavy-handed than I want.  But this can't continue to be a drag on the forum and one way or the other, it needs to stop and this is the most direct way to do that.

Thank you. Much appreciated

Just hope Guhle can stay healthy, play a full year and not put himself in awkward spots as often to take a big hit.

NHL Power Rankings: A new No. 1, Rangers fall from top 10 and the league’s best deals - The Athletic

"28. Montreal Canadiens, 8-11-3
Last week: 29
Sean’s ranking: 28
Dom’s ranking: 29

Three pairs play tougher minutes than Kaiden Guhle: Tampa Bay’s top pair, Detroit’s top pair and Carolina’s top pair. That’s the context needed for what Guhle has dealt with this season and he’s still managed to be Montreal’s best scoring chance suppressor. He has a real future as a shutdown force and will be a bargain on his $5.5 million extension, let alone the ELC he’s currently on."

NHL playoff tiers, buyers and sellers: Where does each team stand at Thanksgiving? - The Athletic

Montreal Canadiens
Record: 8-11-3
Playoff tier: Not happening
Trade deadline buyer or seller? Cautious seller

The Canadiens have four impending unrestricted free agents that could attract some attention at the deadline — David Savard, Jake Evans, Joel Armia and Christian Dvorak — but they are also a team already loaded with draft picks and prospects. Thus, if the return is simply more middling draft picks, they might be tempted to hang on to some of these players to try to finish the season strong. The case of Evans is particularly complicated because there could be some interest in re-signing him. So yes, some or even all of these players might be traded by the deadline, but the sense is the organization won’t necessarily feel obligated to do it. — Arpon Basu

It took me actually responding for someone to do something. As you know, I bit my tongue and was have been asking for the kite comments to be dealt with for months, and when it was clear that it wasn't going to be dealt with (and his little buddy started with the anti-semitic issue too), .... its sad but I felt that I had to escalate to get some attention on the issue.

That said, I apologize for my comments.

As I've said many times, I'm content to let it go and move on to hockey talk.  I just hope others do the same and if they don't I will again be asking that it be dealt with.

TBH I have a hard time believing that there truly are three more impressive rookies than Hutson. The kid has stepped in, eaten monster minutes, and been a ridiculous driver of offence so far while playing on a crap team. At this early juncture, he is perhaps the single most impressive Habs rookie I've ever seen. (Maybe second only to Price). I'd hazard that if he had higher draft pedigree, he would be #1-2 on most people's lists.

The Calder likes to favour points.  If it's within less than a 10 point spread, I agree Hutson should be the favourite.

I agree 100%, Hutson has had a big impact and it's much harder for a rookie to play defense than wing. If he continues like this than he has to be a serious candidate for the Calder trophy.

Michkov 17pts 20games

Wolf doing very well as a Flame goalie

Stankoven did great last year and again doing well on a top team, 15pts 20games.

They are the top 3, but 60 more games to go.

Yes, Wolf playing extremely well in Calgary.

Here is an odd stat (totally unrelated to rookie of the year).

How many people would have predicted that after they both played 22 games that Brendan Gallagher would have 4 more goals than Connor Bedard??  Hard to believe.

He did take the team to the finals in 2021, which really is nothing to scoff at. That was the first time since 1993 ...

We went to the finals in a Covid Canadian division. At the start of that season (go back and search my posts), I said this is the best chance a Canadian team had to make the finals. A number of things fell into place for us that year - aside from being in a lousy Canadian division in which every team had flaws and the best of the bunch on paper was flawed being the leafs with the weight of 1967 and a weak D and little depth outside their top guys. Carey Price and Weber were playing with the urgency because they knew they were done.

A lot of things went right for us:

1) Tavares knocked out

2 Leafs played like the leafs do in choking in the olayofds

 3) Scheifele made an incredibly stupid and dirty play that knocked him out out of the the series.

4) Vegas went through tough rounds, took the Habs lightly, and Fleury was shit.

5)Price was unbelievable on his wonky knees.

this wasn't  a regular anything can happen in the playoffs - it was a unique year where with our record we didn't even in the playoffs. Belong in the playoffs (we're only in the year before because of a once in a lifetime play-in round).

If you look at the other Canadian teams that went to the finals before us and lost, Edmonton, Vancouver, Calgary, and Ottawa, we didn't even measure up to any of those teams - even though Calgary and Edmonton were weak teams.

was it fun - Hell yes. Did I enjoy the ride - hell yes! Was it repeatable - no way in hell!  Not going to give credit for a flukey trip to the finals from a guy that gave the team that beat us one of the key guys that could be a top pairing today for nothing.

Okay, now that we’re all friends again…

1) I have removed my inflammatory post(s) (for the record I called the joke that, not the person)

2) In the spirit of friendship I will unblock and look forward to constructive criticism of things I write

I like looking at years 2029-30 because everything we do NOW will reflect on what may happen in the future. I see drafting in top 10 this year and maybe next (get talent while you can). I see making the playoffs in 27 and in 28….(drafting in bottom 10 then). Competing for the cup in 29 and 30 and really using picks and prospects to throw the whole kitchen sink at winning because of those 4 expiring contracts (Slaf, Guhle, Caufield and Suzuki).

After 2030, a mini tear down might need to occur, but with the assets we get in the next two years, plus assets we have gotten in the last two, we will continue to compete well in the post season.

You’re right, there is plenty of time before worrying about 2030. But everything we do now changes a dynamic…. like Marty McFly going into the past and almost messing it up.

Some people on here like watching the Rockets. Some like watching the rookies or the goalies. Some like looking at advanced stats or fights. My jam is the building of the team - using the draft and trades to build strategies for continued playoff success well into the future.

I also like berating the Habs veterans from time to time because it’s fun.

But hey that’s just me.

I am not concerned if we kill penalties using the diamond, the box or the wedge. Not my jam.

Because I like how Management works/thinks  you understand why I look 6 years ahead trying to predict Hughes’ moves now and what is best for the team now. I’m not a Taylor Swift fan. This is all I got (besides Pornhub).

And for that reason, anyone know a good place to look that might shed light on where the NHL Salary Cap numbers are headed now through 2034 ?

I like spreadsheets.

Seeing MSL say Struble’s “floor is too low” … does that mean after Savard he could be next defensemen out the door ? Maybe a summer trade for some other type of help ? Or is Marty trying to light a fire ? For his part Struble thinks he’s been playing well of late.

That clip is concerning to me.

Struble: I think I’m playing great even though I had a couple of mistakes last game.

St. Louis: Struble does good stuff but his bad stuff is really, really bad (low). He doesn’t have the intensity required and my body language suggests that I don’t like him.

My interpretation of that clip is good bye Struble.

My thoughts were similar. Struble is maybe on outside looking in. Kinda harsh for your coach to say to the media. MSL usually protects his players. So this is not a normal approach.

St. Louis spoke this way about Ylonen too and it was obvious that Marty didn’t like him at all.

Seems very similar to Struble
