Chuko Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 not in montreal. we don't need underachievers in the playoffs. What ????? You wouldn't want Gagne in Montreal ??? I would trade either Huet or Aebischer for Gagne and call up Danis in a hearteat. Unless I misunderstood your comment... Quote
dark_faerie87 Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Can we scratch a #2 centre off our needs list now? Quote

Unless I misunderstood your comment... Thats an interesting way to think about it, but what if Huet or Abby got hurt. Tell me would you really want to rely on Danis. Kinda what is happeining to Blackhawks, they boucher in net cause khabby is hurt. They suck now......... Quote

Unless I misunderstood your comment... you understood right...gagné as never had a good playoffs in 8 seasons. to me it's not really important to add another winger while we need Dmen and centers. besides, the price tag for gagné would be carey price...never in my life time. huzer Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 pssst They sucked even with Khabbi in net. Exactly, Havlat and Handzus have more to do with their slump than Khabby. Quote
habsfan88 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Spector is reporting that Lecavalier or St. Louis could definitly be traded this season, maybe the deadline... Lecavalier would be a dream....just what we need! Quote
Chris Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I also read the Sharks, oilers and flames are interested in Souray. Ryders name came up in that same report, i'm not sure who is interested in him. The article mentioned something about Ryders agent being difficult and the Habs trying to move him. Quote
huzer Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Spector is reporting that Lecavalier or St. Louis could definitly be traded this season, maybe the deadline... Lecavalier would be a dream....just what we need! Strange. Spector is inconsistent. In one rumour response, he mentions that Lecavalier would headline trade rumours, and a few responses later, mentions that he won't be traded because he has a no-trade clause. Wow, I think as long as this guy is alive, some Habs fans will always be salivating/expecting him to come to Montreal. Quote

CoRvInA Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 (edited) Do we even have the cap space? Come dealine we only need like 1.5 million in cap space to get anyone under 7 Mil Edited November 3, 2006 by CoRvInA Quote
dark_faerie87 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Come dealine we only need like 1.5 million in cap space to get anyone under 7 Mil Yes, but neither of those two has an expiring contract. We'd be in the same situation as New Jersey in the off-season. Quote
CoRvInA Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Yes, but neither of those two has an expiring contract. We'd be in the same situation as New Jersey in the off-season. true true... but what if that turns us into true contenders? than in my opinion its not even a choice! its a heavy price to pay But a must! dark_faerie87 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 true true... but what if that turns us into true contenders? than in my opinion its not even a choice! its a heavy price to pay But a must! And end up like Tampa? A team that depleted itself in order to win the Cup? I'd rather keep our team together and let Bob build us a Detroit-like franchise. Quote

Gman Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Spector's site (spectorshockey.net) is reporting that Forseberg could be had at the deadline if the Flyers continue to flounder. Could you imagine if we picked up Forseberg at the end of February for the rest of the season and the playoff run? Maybe some people wouldn't want to see Samsanov-Forseberg-Kovalev, but personally I think that would be quite nice. By the way, his salary would only be $1M for the remainder of the season. Let us know what you think. Quote
habsfan88 Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 I would definitly pick him up for a playoff run and if he plays really well, into next season. The thing with Forsberg though is that he gets injured way too often, but having him in the playoffs would be deadly. I also heard that he could come cheap. This post is most likely going to be moved into the permanent rumours thread. Quote
ch_nl Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 One of the best in the game today. Of course everybody would want him. Quote
bebehabs Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 as for me : no thanx! i dunt want superstars with the habs... we already have kovalev as *superstar* and it's already very hard to deal with... i rather keep our team as it is at the moment... OF COURSE... if kovalev or another *impact* player is injured... this is going to be a different situation... in bob we trust!!! Quote
Dalhabs Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Yeah... I would love to see the Inury list when the playoffs start. Koivu Forsberg Top 2 centers = Plekanec, Begin. I agree we need to reinforce C with a top 2-line center but I dont want Forsberg unless he comes very cheap. Quote
Doktor Kosmos Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Forsberg does have the highest points-per-game average of the last three years or so. But he is injury prone. I think that is a major drawback. I don't want to re-live those years when the Habs were setting new NHL records for most man-games lost several seasons in a row. I think we need stability and consistency more than anything. Quote

Heck, Forsberg is one of the best in the game, this guy would be awesome for every team ... this guy is a game breaker, just ask the Avs what Forsberg did for this organization! Quote
zumpano21 Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Mmmm.... Forsberg in a Habs uni for a playoff run? Uhhh... yes! He's not a bigheaded superstar. In fact, he's quite down to earth and a team player. He's a force at centre and of course he's won the cup before. Let me see... who's won a Cup before on this Habs team? Kovy, Dandy and maybe Aebischer. I think we'd be better off without him. In fact, I think there will be a competition to get him at the deadline and Montreal will have to show itself as a true contender before getting him. Quote
Pierre the Great Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 I know the Flyers are bad this year dreadfully bad but why in the world would you trade a Forsberg? Of course I'd love to see him in Montreal. Is it going to happen? no. Are the Flyers going to trade him away, no unless there stupid. Quote
smon Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 bebehabs - it's a bit of a problem when the superstar on a team is Alex Kovalev, Peter Forsberg if acquired would be by far the best player on the team by a mile. I think the Flyers may indeed deal Forsberg. A halfbrained trade like the Thornton one in fact..and if you consider that Montreal will be likely be moving David Aebischer and at least 1 defender at the deadline to get playoff help, it's not that much of a stretch.
