hab29RETIRED
This is absolutely bullshit. We’ve gone from trading a captain for giving the finger to a photographer, to the other extreme. Embarrassing.

dlbalr
Well, that was unexpected. Talent wise, Mailloux isn't bad by any stretch and certainly fits a need but that's definitely a surprising pick given what happened.

Habsfan89
You're telling me you couldn't package our 1st and 2nd to get someone to help us now, but you draft a guy who didn't want to be in this year's draft after what happen with his personal life???? Who gets fired over this🤔

revvvrob
Well …. I like that they say he is first round talent. I like that he is from the Knights program. I just need to hope that his remorse and regret is sincere and that the Habs have done their due diligence. if MB thought he would be available in the 2nd round, he’d have waited. Someone was going to select him - hopefully we end up on being glad we did. the number of people (men mainly) viewing pornography that uses (abuses) sex trafficked women is huge. None of us to play the holy card. I, for one, am upset and disgusted every time another human is abused. I’d expect him to pay for his crime. But, I also believe in forgiveness and that people can turn their lives around. The kid is too young to write him off for life.
Habs Fan in Edmonton
I can only assume that MB thinks his character is salvageable as he has to know he will get grief over this pick.

It could be a great story if he turns his life around or it could go the other way.

titanfan
This is just a bad pick. Period. Bad on an organization that prides itself on being the 'class' of the league. Not only did they pick him, but they made him a First Round draft pick! Think about it. If they wanted to take a chance on him, they could have gotten him in the third or fourth round. Honestly Marc Bergevin should be ashamed of himself. Did Geoff Molson know? If not - I expect the entire Molson family/company is scrambling right now. Given all the other factors involved, Bergevin may just have fallen on his sword. Definitely the kind of thing a GM could get fired for - and there will be pressure for the tam to do just that. Neech
Strong indication that we're targeting DeAngelo. Bergy has turned heel!
JoeLassister
This would ease up a DeAngelo signing. 🤦
TheDriveFor25
Hope it works out but I hate the pick. Reminds me of the McCarron draft - better players available but they draft based on need/size. Even if the kid had tremendous character I’m not sure he goes in the first round.
Trizzak
Habs need to draft a right-handed defenseman *monkey's paw curls a finger*
TheDriveFor25
The fact that the organization had to release a statement immediately after picking the kid says the pick probably wasn’t the best.

alfredoh2009
Another shocker !!! Love the drama but hate the pick for a kid that didn’t want to be picked, to select him as the Habs first round pick is going to be detrimental to him Even if he pays his dues to justice and society, other teams will have an easy time in trash talking him out of his game
Meller93
I just wish they took Raty or something. Yikes. Best we can hope for is the dust settles and this isn’t focused on for too long. He’s a young man who made a big mistake, and you have to hope he comes out on the other side more humble, and most of all with actual respect for women. I don’t like it, but it’s done. Now we just have to hope for the best.

Craig McTavish spent a year in jail for vehicular manslaughter. I don't think anyone would question Craig McTavish's character now. He did the work. It can be done. It won't be easy for him.

The worst place for this kid is Montreal.
