Thats all true.  Id also say SHL salary is competitive with AHL money on a 2-way deal.  Depending on the offer, the money may have been better there.

And the benefits may be way better than what you get in the AHL. Plus he will be close to his family and friends.

No,no,no, just say no!!!!

this would be even worse than if we had tried to acquire PLD.

"The website PuckPedia‘s PuckGM tool lets users create their own trades. One user proposed a deal that would see the Canadiens acquire Jonathan Huberdeau from the Calgary Flames."

Its just some random fan making shit up.

Dont think we need to worry.

Unless the initial offer was Huberdeau for Gallagher and Anderson I would hope HuGo hangs up.

I've seen those links for a while but never clicked on one before, that's seriously where they're pulling these from...wow.  Looking at the proposed offer in there, it's fair to say that came from a Calgary fan on PuckPedia.

No doubt, and we only have to give up one 1st round pick.  One of the most unrealistic trade proposals I have come across. A complete joke.

Let me take a second to remind you all who our GM is.

Ain't no way in hell Hughes make a trade of that ilk.

I would not be opposed to bringing in Huberdeau HOWEVER they would most definitely be retaining a large chunk of salary as well taking on short term dead weight contracts AS WELL as providing us with valuable futures..

People make that stuff up to get hits

Hughes is way too smart to make a deal like that

According to Pierre LeBrun, Montreal was one of 5 teams in on Askarov.  No mention of what the offer may of been.

Nashville got a pretty good return for Askarov, likely one that Hughes was not going to match. I definitely see Hughes kicking tires but with Monty seemingly emerging as a #1 goalie and Fowler in the pipeline, don't think there was a sense of urgency there.

Neither urgency nor desperation! 😊

This will be the year that tells the tale.

Agreed, that's why I used the word "seemingly" as I am somewhat confident but not totally confident.

I am the flip-side of that coin ... lacking confidence but haven't written him off as just a backup (for a serious team)

Pierre LeBrun claims that Habs could have had Askarov ... as long as they were willing to give up Fowler.

I am assuming it would have been Fowler plus some other assets. If that's true then it gives further vindication that Fowler is a pretty good prospect.

He is a goalie, with stats not quite as good as Primeau's and Fowler played on a stacked team.

So who the heck knows?

Yes, with goalies who really knows. At this point in time Fowler is simply a good prospect, may turn out, may not.

Too much to give up for Dobson although he is very good. Lee is 34, best years are behind him. It is a doozy of a rumour.

The Evans rumour is very reasonable, I can certainly see the Habs trading him with Beck and Kapanen knocking on the door.
