The Chicoutimi Cucumber Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 That is crazy. I’d rather we didn’t feed it into the “Habs are always injured” narrative, though. Heineman is a great player but not a core guy, and while this injury is a truly bizarre bit of bad luck, it’s not unusual for a team to lose a role player for a while. The main thing is that, Laine aside, all of our best players are currently on a nice run of good health. 1 Quote

DON Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 At least ironman Suzuki hasnt missed a hockey game in 8-9 years going back to OHL. 415 NHL games, how does he avoid injury; maybe his play should be studied by the Habs for lessons to be learned or passed on to some younger teammates. (and no i dont believe in aliens, ghosts, or jinx foolishness) Am curious why Heineman got hit, was it his or the driver's fault? Quote
Commandant Posted January 14, 2025 Author Posted January 14, 2025 Most vehicle/pedestrian accidents are the drivers fault, though there are exceptions. Per capita, SLC is one of the worst cities in US for pedestrian accidents. Quote
xXx..CK..xXx Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 Not trying to argue about Heineman being a core guy however he is tied for the 3rd most goals on the team and leads the team in hits. I saw that stat on the jumbotron prior to the game against Dallas and was surprised by it. He’s also one of only 5 plus players on the team. Not necessarily a core piece per se but he brings a nice element to the team. It sucks that this freak accident happened. Hopefully he recovers well and is back sooner than anticipated. Quote

Not necessarily a core piece per se but he brings a nice element to the team. I call him “secondary core” and an important player to grow with the team. Keep him as long as you can until his salary demands cause an issue with the cap. Which hopefully isn’t for a number of years. Or maybe he can grow into being part of the core. Hard to stay ahead of the talent coming or leap over some of the present core. But yes he’s a big loss for us for the month. Quote

We all see folks walking & glued to cellphone everywhere and I was kinda wondering if that was part of reason for accident. Quote
