Expecting a loss in this one. Third game in four nights and against by far the best team.

Hope Im wrong.

Yeah, we're in tough. But like they say - that's why they play the games. 🤷‍♂️

Exactly.  The purely logical part of my brain is saying that the Devils will win handily, but after watching New England beat Buffalo this past Sunday I am reminded that outcomes don't always make sense.

The expected outcome last night would have been a Buffalo win, too.

I wanted Matheson freed from Savard but not like this!

Matheson - Barron Or Matheson - Harris

I suspect it'll eventually be Matheson-Guhle once Guhle is cleared to return.

Mattheson - Barron was a regular pairing down the stretch last year.

Baron is one guy who didn’t look good last night. There were  few instances that it looked like he let himself get pushed aside too easily. I know he isn’t a physical dman, but you’d expect a 6’2” guy that is over 200lb to not get pushed aside so easily.

Why else do you think Primeau is supposedly starting?

NHL.com is reporting Primeau starting as @GHT120 pointed out.

Defense pairs are following;

Matheson - Barron

Harris - Kovacevic

Xhekaj - Lindstrom

I may of butchered some of the spelling.

Any word on what going on with Montembeault?  He didn’t look bad in his start, indications are pointing to Allen as the starter and Primeau getting a start over Montembeault in this game.

Is Guhle decent on the right side?

He does seem like a good fit for Matheson.

If memory serves, he played the right side at some point last year.

Day-to-day with an upper-body injury.  Still not on IR yet which is a promising sign.

He did well against Chicago and then had a clunker against Minnesota. Allen played well enough against Washington to earn a second start (like they did with Montembeault after the Chicago game) and Primeau needs to play at some point.  I'm sure Montembeault will get one of the two games between now and the end of the week.

Historically,  over the last 10 or so years the Habs haven't had a great record in back to back games.  However, the Habs are young so some of these back to back games might be more winnable than in previous years.  Plus, the Devils don't seem to be off to a good start so maybe the Habs can steal some more points off teams that should really beat them.

Personally, I think they have a better chance beating NJ than CBJ so I'd rather see Monty play tonight.

Primeau is going to play his heart out tonight.

Too bad the rest of the team is tired from last night. Still I expect a very competitive game and maybe Suzuki finds his rhythm

Buffalo doesn't seem too tired in Ottawa, these are young guys in great shape.  Tired is just an excuse this early in the year.

Yep, they're so young they shouldn't be tired this soon in the season.

Right on Pezzetta!!  What a great hit to start that entire sequence.  I sorta questioned his shot when he took it, but the rebound was perfect.

I'm liking Pearson more and more.  He's no star but he's a really good role player.

D'oh, that sucks NJ scored, but hopefully it is called back.

Hischier's skate pushed Primeau's pad across the line well before the puck went in. A good challenge and I don't think it was a tough decision in the end.

I think the biggest determining factor was there is Kovacevic is pushing Hischier, but it's not towards the net.  So It was fairly easy to say Hischier made no effort to avoid contact with the goalie.
